Which end to lock?

I was just wondering what you guys thought on the subject. If you only had money to buy one locker which end would you lock first?

My way of thinking, since mine is a daily driver and i still want good street manners i locked the front first. Also, since there is more weight in the front wouldn't you want it to be locked?

Anyways, post up, id like to here what you guys think.

Weld the rear, buy a locker for the front. Some front lockers a tire size will require hydro assist. So be prepared with the budget.

I would lock the rear first, since you have a D44 front. Chances are, that you will get sick of breaking the D44, and upgrade to a D60. Then you would have a busted up D44 with an awesome locker that will be worthless.

I wouldn't really consider that G80 a good locker. I'd lock the rear if it were me first or weld up that gov bomb and make an orb. With a d44 front I'd leave it open for now, but that's just my opinion.

My junk doesn't even move yet so what do I know?

I don't have a Chevy but I did lock (weld) the rear first. It did great. I have a lock right up front and now it's even better.
I don't like driving it in the rain here in SATX.
Mike

My cousin welded his rear 10bolt (82 4x4 truck) and DD it everyday.

Lock the front first. But weld the rear at the same time, problem solved.

I just bought a set of 4.56 gears with an open carrier from Obijaun. I plan on leaving it open for the time being until i get enough money to buy a detroit for the rear. The front is getting an aussie locker, but im not going to put alot into it because i will eventually get a D60.

I agree with all the other guys that said lock the front. The front can pull you over alot things that the rear cant push you over. And if you have locking hubs, you will never even know its locked up on the street.

Had I not done the front first I would agree with everyone. I would personally go with the rear first it made the most improvement on MY rig. It didn't take long before I welded the rear and was done with it. I found myself in situations where on a steep hill with little ledges and loose rocks the rear having all the weight on it would dig with one tire just enough to hold the front from climbing over then I would have to back down and go faster. Honestly either end will make a big difference. Just my opinion though.
