GM12 front axle

I have a pair of 8 lug gm12 front and 14 bolt SF rear laying around... I am going to leave the sami axles behind when I put the links and coils on, but have never had any dealings with these axles before.

Under a sami with about 70 hp, propane, dual trans, crawl ratio in the area of 235:1, do you think that this front axle will be plenty running a set of 36" Iroks??? Any upgrades that are needed to make them bullet proof.

Do you mean 10 blt? GM never had a 12blt front.

I have a 10 blt under the front of my K10. I havent managed to kill it yet. I'm pretty hard on it with the BB and stupid driving with 35s. It's not locked though; I'm pretty sure if it was it would be in a million little pieces by now.

Some people could break a big rig axle with a weed eater motor, while some could keep a go cart axle in one piece with a million horse power. It's all in the way you drive.

I would kill the big rig axle with a weed eater motor.

It has ten bolts on the cover, but has gm12 cast into the front axle, the rear and driver's side of the center section. I have read a few places about the gm12, but no one was rock crawling with them either..... I am probably going to use them, but would love to hear from someone that has used this axle before....

Oh yeah, by the way, I am getting the axles from under a 1986 3/4ton suburban

with the lighter rig, the 10 bolt should do fine if you don't drive crazy

Do you plan to weld it up, or will it stay open. Spares for that axle should be readily available, so either way you should be fine. Before I swapped in the 60, I kept mine together for a couple of runs with 44 boggers on it and I did about all I could to break em.

If you lincoln lock it, just remember to try to keep the front tires as straight as possible when you get on it.
