HID vs. LED lighting

Who uses what? Do you like it?

I have always used old school halogens with ok results. However, this time I decided to try 2 LED light bars.

The lights I use..
Trail Worthy Fab :: LED Light Bars

As much as I would like to have a 30" bar,I dont....making do with 2 6" lights. The quality of the lights is very good for a "knockoff". Fit/finish is good, install went smooth, and most of all they are VERY bright.

Now,my gripe....

These lights are bright, very bright. Just what I wanted. The issue is "dust".
When the "trail" gets dusty(imagine baja dusty or KOH dusty....this is how the river gets under high traffic) the light seems to reflect back at me about 15' out from the rig. Ill use a quote from a KOH racer,"Like a wall of dirt". This describes it perfectly. Rumor has it that a light cover would help? Any tips on what color cuts thru the dirt?

My plan was to run the 2 lights I have while I save for a 30" bar. After some real world testing Im considering adding 2 or 3 large HID lights to cut thru the dirt/dust.

Has anyone used HIDs in dusty conditions & liked what they saw?

Yes,much like a heavy fog.

It may just be something I have to adjust to. My lights are currently mounted about 6" lower than eye level on the dash. Im thinking that mounting the lights higher/lower could also change the amount of glare?

I have two on my bumper and they don't glare much at all... But the four in the roof do ... I still see better then with out them at slow speeds. LED bars are give only thing brighter

I REALLY like my rigid duallies and I run some very dusty areas. You do have to get used to it since they put out way more light than the old halogens.

Here you can see where mine are mounted. The lower you can get them, the better the glare will be, to an extent.
