I need Tires for my DD

Ok -- I need to buy some tires for my DD -- the 03 Dodge Crew Cab 4x4Cummins -- I am looking at the Mickey Thompson MTZ -- I really like the looks of them and I want a mud tire.

So what is yalls opinion on tires -- what do ya like or dislike and why -- And where is a good place to get them. I want something around a 33/12.5/17.

I am way-impressed with the BFG mud radials I have on my TJ. Excellent tread life so far and pretty quiet for a mud lug.
33-10.50x15
I run lower pressure than what the door sticker says; that's part of making your oversize tires last longer. I can't speak to how they'd do on a truck that weighs a whole lot more than my Jeep, but I sure do like these tires on my street-only Wrangler.

Only thing with that is they are doing away with the BFG MT and bringing in a KM2 -- which no one has yet -- we have had these too and I like them -- just looking to get something on the truck by this weekend.

dont waste your money on the bfg's. your truck is too heavy and will wear them fast.
im running 315/70 r17 mickey thompsonn mtzs on my duramax and love them. got almost 30k on them with life left. quiet on the road and pretty good off road. i will replace them with the same tire when it comes time.

Michelle, I always ran the 37" Bfg's MT on my F-250 and I got around 40-45k miles on all the sets I bought. The 2nd to last set I bought I got the AT's and they did good also, so i went back with the AT's again. When we moved out to our land it was raining and the biggest U-haul truck you can rent got stuck (still full of all our stuff!) where we laid the water line and i had to use the F-250 to pull it out. The AT's covered my truck with big clumps of mud. Right before I traded the F-250 in I got my tractor stuck and and my Blazer with 44" TSL's wasn't heavy enough to pull it out, but the F-250 with the AT's was able to dig down pull it out. The MT's did great and lasted a long time (for me 9 months I did 4-5k a month back then) But the AT's did good also, and they got the job done the two times I remember testing them. MT's are quit, but at's are even quiter. BTW I always ran the load range D. If you don't get the right load range in any tire they will ware out fast.

I also run the BFG AT's on my Dodge CTD. I'm impressed with how many miles I've got on them but they suck off road in my opinion. I can get stuck in wet grass with these tires. I bought my truck to pull with and not to off road so them bringing the suck off road doesn't bother me.

My local tire store has the KM2s in stock and he sells quite a few sets of them every month. He has them on his truck (not a diesel) and so does his salesman, both of them are very happy with them. Can't report on how many miles they bring, but so far they are wearing really well.

This might be my next tire for the dually if I stay with 17s.

Thanks guy for all the opinions -- we did decide to give the BFG KM2's a try. I did find some in stock down in Coppell -- about 1 1/2 hours from me -- but they are on -- so far I like the ride and they freaking look sweet on the truck -- I would take some pictures but I am ashamed about how dirty my truck is

I have the MT ATZ's on my 06 2500 CTD and love them. So far they are the best wearing and best riding tire I have run on my Dodge and it sees very rough road conditions every day. 2 days ago I way overloade my truck with a 3600 lb pallet of sacks of Gel in the bed and hauled it 50 miles. The load range E tires just laughed at the load and rolled on. BTW my size tires are 305 65 R17 on the factory wheel.

Looks sweet, I really like the looks of that tire. If they had them in a 15" rim they would be on my Jeep right now. Old school BFG muds have always been good to me with all my highway driving. Let us know how they do for sure! O ya and sweet truck btw!

Thanks -- I am headed to Houston tomorrow so it will be a great test to see how they do. So far I like them -- really dont hear alot of road noisy and they seem to grip really good. Oh and thanks on the truck -- I love it too -- try to keep it clean but living in the country it is hard !
