Let's Talk Shop/Garages

So, I'm out of room. My "2" car garage is more like a 1.45 car garage and by the time I put all my junk up and pull the jeep in I'm left with 2 problems.

1. Wife wants to park in the garage (imagine that) but can't. Well she can she just can't open her doors.

2. There is practically no room left for tools, , work bench, etc.

Why not build a shop you say? I can't

Unfortunately although I don't have an HOA I am stuck with certain deed restrictions that require "...any structure to be at least 50% brick or brick veneer".

Why not build another detached garage you say?

Do I look like I am made of money? Seriously, I haven't had a bid yet but while I could probably afford a decent 30x40 shop I am thinking even an unfinished detached brick garage would run 2-3x what a normal metal shop would be.

I've called a few shop builders but most know exactly nothing about adding brick/brick veneer to a metal building. I'm here to solicit your opinions, ideas, rants, thoughts, knock-knock jokes, whatever. I need more space to I can fill it up with junk and render it useless but I'm just a working man on a working mans salary. Also, moving isn't really an option. Wife like where we are at and we haven't been here long enough to really build up enough equity to drop and start over.

So, what say you? WWYD?

Stop wrenching and pick up golfing.

I'm in the semi same boat. We just sold our house and looking to build on a 1 1/2 acre plot in a year or so. But in the mean I want to start throwing the slab for my shop so we can slowly start building it. Thinking a 40x60 should be enough to allow me to grow.
