plastic gas tank repair??

I have developed a leak in my plastic tank on the YJ. Seems there were some rocks inbetween the skid plate and the tank & a leak followed. I beat the skid plate out, cleaned out all the rocks & junk inbetween & tried to repair the tank with some JB Weld type stuff (2 part epoxy). The leak has returned after a month.

Any Ideas short of replacing the tank? The leak is on the driver side rear corner of the tank. It was a hairline crack about 1 1/2" long.

Gas is an entire different animal, but I've used epoxy and fiber glass sheets to patch a plastic RV tank. Just a thought.

Harbor freight has a plastic , but in all honesty replacing tank would be best bet. Spend $$ to fix leak and it fails, lose a tank of fuel and you are close to equal to the price of a new tank. Wasn't someone on here selling a yj tank he other day?

tank

That fuel tank sealer looks like it is for metal tanks.

Guess I'm going for a road trip to the Junk Yard.

Thanks for the input!

More than likely. I will have to pull fuel pump from it for my new cell. I'll see what the better half has planned
