Power steering?

I am in the process of changing my stock pump with the reservoir to a older chevy pump with a external reservoir. I found a pump from a '80 454 bolted right up to the stock bracket on my '88 454 and the pulley is the same size so I can put the serpentine pulley on the older pump. I was looking there is a can on the back of the pump and on the top is the big 3/4" hole that goes to the reservoir and then there are 2 3/8" studs coming off of the can. Anyone know why they are there or what they go to? I got a reservoir from a toyota just because that is what my buddy had laying around. We are gonna cut the top off and make it taller. He said this reservoir is about the same size as a stock chevy external reservoir too.

On that Toyota reservoir take the bottom off also and put the top and bottom on a piece on 3" muffle pipe. It has the same OD.

I am just gonna cut the top off and add the pipe there. He gave me a piece of exhaust tubing as well. I got everything mounted up tonight. I just need to get the return line from the oribtal valve plumbed into the reservoir and the figure out what to do with the 2 nipples coming off of the back of the can on the pump.

I guess this a large sawgana pump. Its sounds like what im run for my full hydro. Is the the pump in a big can like housing. Look at my pic it should be in my pics. My pump the shaft was way bigger then the old stock pump. So i cut the center of the s/belt pully off and mounted it to the center of the old pump pully.

Yeah the pump is in a big can. It came off of a '80 454. I ended up spending $40 on this set up and it works 10 times better than the stock pump. The 3X9 just uses so much fluid the stocker couldnt handle it. I just left the reservoir the stock size for now. I will be trying it out at shiloh in a few weeks and see how it does. If I have to I can make it taller. I made sure and left room for it when I made the bracket to mount it.

Cool. You can get pumps for it like pretty cheap for it to.From your local part store like ol'reillys. If i remember ill get you a pump # that puts out the most flow and pressure. Had my wife call the pump dealer and get them to look the best pump up for that setup. Think my pump has like lifetime warrnity. And i only have like $100 in two pumps. keeping one as a trail spare. make shur you put a cooler on it.
