RVreddog was mean to me

this weekend.. he made me sweat.... ALOT

Saturday morning, went to RVreddogs house to help install a lift kit on a Surburban. got started around 10:30, Finished bout 8:30 or so Sat night. We did a shackle flip on the rear, and put 4" springs on the front, all new shocks and brake lines. the shackle flip we cut and flipped, Chaparro Mike came by and fabbed the upper parts for the shackle flip and welded them on. Guy who owns the burb was helping, but he did not have the u-bolts for the front, so he went to AZ and bought a set. MISTAKE #1, Do not buy u-bolts from AZ, they are a waste of time and money. when we would pull them down to torque the nuts, they would strip. finally made some old ones work till he can get the right ones made.

Sunday morning....I'm sound asleep in my nice comfy bed... the phone rings...Wanna go to austin??? uh...no.. Well, ok..bonehead. 30 min. later, phone rings....you SURE you don't wanna go???, oke doke, let me get my shoes on...I get to his house, and off we go to pick up a trailer and baby jeff ( BJ ) then on to Austin to visit Electric Bob. We went intending on picking up a D70 axle for BJ's new tow rig. Well.....The Truck was still on the trailer, and the rear brakes were froze, so we had to winch it off the trailer. then we decided to take the steel diamond plate with wood underneath flat bed off, so Bob and I cut the mounts off, then we used high lift jacks to get one side up high enough so we could push it over, well....3-4 times jacking and unjacking, we finally got the bed off the truck and propped up out of the way. then I cut the frame rails in front of the front rear hangers. then we hooked up a snatch block, and drug the whole back end of the truck out where we could move it with a cherry picker, another 3-4 times up and down and we got it almost on the trailer, out comes the strap and we drug the axle up on the trailer....phew!!!
THEN.......RVreddog fell in love with a lil red scout, and it had to follow us home, so we swapped a tire, aired them up, put BJ in to steer and Bob drug it out to the street where we could load the scout on the trailer..Got it tied down all nice and tidy then went in Bob's air conditioned shop with Bathroom and other amenities, got cleaned up, cooled off, and headed home, 5 miles down the road we noticed the Scout moving a little bit, so we stopped tied it down again, back on the road, got going on 35, and saw a strap looked loose, one more stop.... then on to San Antonio... got home, unloaded the Scout - while RVreddog explained to Blazer Killer how the Scout just jumped up on the trailer no matter how hard we tried to prevent it - BJ and I began to try getting the D70 off the trailer, We cut the remaining frame rails off, and then began trying to take the lug nut off the left side, nothing worked, I've had some frozen nuts before, but none like these, long story short, the blue tip wrench got the nuts off...Phew!!!

It was a excellent weekend, got to hang out with my buds, and visit with ElectricBob...

plus.....

I now am the proud owner of a Dana-300 with a 4-1 kit, and a D44 rear axle for my lil heep... be a good while yet before they get installed, but at least I have them... Many thanks Bob

The doner Scout has fairly new replacement panels on the back, and the front fender. When I put the new axles in the Scout I want to stretch the wheelbase,so the wheelwells will need to move back.Plus as a bonus I got two doors for cutdown doors.
