SAS S-10 Questions

Anyone got any good info on the swap? I have a 91 S-10 Blazer that I am considering a SAS on. It will be daily driven. I am trying to see if there are any good pre-fab kits out there that will incluse such information as what front springs will give X" of lift and use X" rear springs to match. I know, I can search, but I am trying to put more time into ordering parts that sifting through the B.S. to figure out what works best.

Thanks.

I guess its already 4wd?

Any IFS to SAS swap kit is going to add up quick on the wallet. I have been looking into doing a fullsize chevy, and will likely just dive in with a torch and a very basic idea what im after for a finished product.

Depends on the size of tires and type of suspension you want.

I know most guys that do leafs do wagoneer springs, and move the springs on top of the axle on the back and the height is about right- about 6" lift depending on specifics.

I believe most people build their own cross member and use the waggy springs and run 35" tires (33-37"s)

I ended up finding a great deal on axles set up with a 3-link otherwise I would have done leafs as well as having more/better info for you.

Yes, it is already a 4wd. I am not sure which axles I want to run yet either. I have thought about everything from Yota axles to tons. I'm not overly concerned with drop, I can change that easy enough. This is a street rig, not a trail rig. So, I am figuring on a 35"ish tire. I have looked at the Sky's.

Chevy S-10 Solid Axle Hanger Kit - Sky's Off-road Design

But I don't know what springs to use in the front and which springs in the rear to keep it level.

Do you plan on keeping the stock transfer case?

If its street only and 35's how about a j**p Dana 30? You could keep the factory tcase, and probably find a built D30 cheapish. Toy axles would be sweet, not sure about the tcase you'd use, maybe an 80's Chevy one? I don't personally know anyone running toy axles- I like it though!

I would definitely look into the wagoneer springs. They are the most common. Usually people use waggy springs, then go with Alcans because the waggy's tend to be too stiff and don't flex well. Maybe if you got some used ones that were already broken in? I dunno.

Some people have used some factory s10 rear springs, but have issues as well (unsure what those are though).
