Selling my project

Selling the beater. I am tired of messing with it.

'86 K20 scottsdale single cab long bed TBI454, 400 tranny, twin sticked 205 with 1410 yokes front and rear, 56" 5" lift springs in the front, one link in the rear with jeep coil springs, sitting on 49's, welded front and rear, and PSC full hydro 3"x9" cylinder.

Here is my build thread that has all the updates and tons of pics.
http://www.texas4x4.org/showthread.php?t=15801

This truck is not done. It still needs lots or work but for someone who has all right tools at there house they can finish it in a couple weekends. THe motor is wired just needs timing set the rear suspension needs more bracing and finish welding, the front suspension needs more welding and bracing, t-case needs to be put back in, needs exhaust, and driveshafts.

Also will not part out and will not sell the truck without the trailer. Trailer is a '07 Trailmaster gooseneck 24' counting dovetail. It has a trip to hot springs arkansas and a couple trips to shiloh so probably maybe 1K to 1500 miles.

$15K for everything.

Thats pretty much it I am just frustrated with the fact that I am working on a project that is never gonna get finished and when I do get it finished I cant afford to take it any where because I am so broke. I dont have to tools to finish the job and I dont want to have to rely on taking somewhere to use someone else stuff. I will just build something later on down the road when I have to tools, shop, and equipment to do it all here. I am tired of having to do more work because I dont have the right stuff to do the job.

I can understand how you feel -- we dont have the tools that we really need to build ours either -- have to borrow from the brother-in-law who has the shop. But hey like muddslinger said -- dont give up -- it is hard when you are in this kind of situtation -- but think of the end result -- ours is not done where we want it either -- my boyfriend is not home that much to work on it and I dont know how to do all the stuff that needs to be done -- but I know that one day that will happen and we will have a bad a** rig -- it just takes time -- and alot of it Hang in there and do what you can when you can.

Thanks for the input. Things may change tommorow. I really doubt that anyone will come up with $15K to buy it but if it comes a long I will sell it. If not then so be it I will hang on to it.

take sometime away and get somethings off your mind... my build took a year and many times I wanted to sell it. I paid rent to store it and build it and waited for buddies to come and help and seemed it would never get done.

By the time you have the tools, shop and know how you won't have the $10,000 to start over and get where you already are. 6-8 more weeks, depending on your free time and you'll be done.......You'll hate when your buddies go to Shiloh, Superlift park and you don't have a rig. Don't give up.

Just my .02

I know how you feel. I'm not even half way done with the Scout. I'm out of money, and like you have no money to wheel if it was finished. Instead of starting over later. I'm just gonna have to wait till money rolls around do a little at a time and hopefully when its finished the money situation will be better and then have fun...

Atleast I have it inside a shop.. Thanks Dad...

I really doubt that someone will even buy it so I dont really expect it to sells but if it does it does. If it does actually sell though I would like to get a bass boat and get back into fishing. One of the things that bug me is that EVERYONE ask me all the time when the truck gonna be done, how much further on the truck, what you got left to do? And it just eats at me because I am always having to list what all is left to be done and then I think I just about got something done and bam I need more stuff. I am gonna mess with it a bit this weekend and get the timing set on the motor and then I probably wont really do much on it until I get back from vegas april 1st. The Vegas trip my brother is paying for so it will help me get my mind off of stuff and maybe by then I will be back into it.

I hope you don't sell it. I know how you feel, I've been in your same position for over 3 years now. I was almost ready to start parting mine out this week, but hopefully I won't have to lol. Hang on to it, don't let it go, you've already got too much into to give up. I agree to get your mind off of it for a while. & I've probably been asked to when I'm gonna finish my truck over 100 times over the 3 year period. It's all good

Dud from your build page. your like 70% done. If its set on axles with suspision a running motor and tranny and t-case mounted up. Your close.

Dont let the little thing's get you down. Like wiring and driveshafts and exhaust. Plus its a mud truck. No wear near what it take to build a buggy.

I got burt out on mine. Well got married 3 months after i bought it. Make a list, make one that you can get done with the parts you have laying around. And then one wear you have to buy parts for it. Do what you can with the part that are there and save on the one's that you have to buy stuff. It helps. I think you have everything you need. Your just thinking you need big nice tooling. No need for that. I built my rig with a stick and a couple grinders and torch set a pile kinker and a table top vise. In the dirt. All in 7 months.

Them new big name parts are for folks that can buy them. i built mine on a $8,000 buget with A starting price of $3200 a loan for the rig that all most fell apart on the trailer on the way home. Fined local stuff. Or junk yard parts. Build it dont buy it. So when folks ask what it is you can say that a part i built ugle or not.

2 yaers later im still finishing things a didnt do from the get go.

Yeah I was in a pissy mood last night and at the time it seemed like the right thing to do. I doubt that it will get sold. Another thing that has been bugging me though is that it just didnt turn out quite the way I pictured it and to get it to what I am wanting will cost quite a more and lots more fabrication so for now it is the way it is. Also this is not a mud truck even though it looks like one. I wouldnt of wasted my time doing a one link on the rear if it was. It is gonna be for rock crawling and trails it just turned out bigger than I was going for.

It will work for now. It will be a while before I can get to the area like hot springs, ok, and places with real rocks. The truck is big but it will do what I need it to do for now which is shiloh and gilmer.

I think this happens with both first timers & seasoned builders.I have posted my junk up for sale a half dozen times. It happens. Throwing some bling parts at a rig is the easy part. Its all the head scratchin, heart burn giving, sleep depriving details that can drive a guy nutty. You can bet my ol beater rig hasnt turned out like I really hoped it would. But,over time I change the things I dont like, upgrade as time & money allows and cherish what ever time i actually have in the seat.

Hang in there

Do the list idea. And do the little stuff first. And just get it on the trail. And do upgrade as you can save up for them.

X2 -- that is what we are doing -- if I started to think of ALL the things I want done to the truck -- oh my god -- I would be sooooo stressed ! In fact I need to update my build thread -- damn another thing I need to put on my "To Do" list ! lol

The problem is that my motor and tranny swap turning int a motor, tranny, axle, and suspension swap. So it turned into a lot bigger project that I had originally planned but oh well.. The truck isnt going anywhere. I got to thinking about it and decided to just go ahead and change it up some so that I am more happy with it.
