sick 4.3

So the s10 runs worse than a 2 legged dog. I finally got around to doing a compression test this evening.

Here's the results:
1-95
2-150
3-30
4-30
5-120
6-40

Notice anything wrong with the numbers?

Looks like it's time for a new squirrel.

Actually, I cant blame this one on Cody. lol

There's a truck sitting in a yard here in town that I'm going to see about. Although there's a good possibility it's no better than mine. I think there may be one at another house that's wrecked, dont know if it's still there or not. I'm going to check the JYs this weekend anyway.

Nah even that's to much power for a zukini to handle. lol

Just bore it out and rebuild it Zach. nothing beats the low end torque of a healthy V6. you cAn most likely just hone the cylinders out and throw on a set of new rings and be golden.

I'm probably just going to find another engine for now so I can still wheel and build this one up later. I've got too much going on right now and dont have the time or money to do what I want with it.

Pulled the heads this afternoon. Bottom end looks pretty good. There's hardly any wear on the cylinders and the block is pretty clean. The problem is definitely in the valves. I put some air behind them and they leak pretty bad. I'm gonna drop them off at the machine shop tomorrow hopefully.

Thats good news, hpoefully you can get out with just a valve job.

Well, if it isnt one thing it's another. I got a call yesterday saying that both heads were cracked. Ok, so they got a pair of reman heads to me today from dallas. No big deal, I bought the truck knowing it had engine problems and wasn't really that surprised, just didnt want to spend that much money.

$560 later and 50 miles down the road, I find out that the new heads dont have rocker studs and I left them in the old heads when I took them in. Hopefully they still have them.

It's really frustrating living in a small town and having to drive 100 mi. round trip every time I need something, just so they can get it ordered, then drive back to pick it up. And if your lucky they actually got the right part.

I believe they keep all of the cores in the back, then certain days of the week they scrap it all. call them and tell them to hold onto them so you can get them studs. Who knows they might have a set out and will give them to you.

Purrs like a kitten now and has WAY more power. Of course, it still didnt go without a fight.

I was tightening one of the rocker nuts and the stud snapped off. I found a bolt and nut and got it temped together. It starts surging when I turn the fan on though. I think it was cooling the water too quick and throwing the temp sensor off. It was pretty cool out last night when I got it running.
