Stuck again

Looks the ride of the month gets to spend the night, in the woods, by its self tonight. I was leaving a rig today and said "hummm I wonder where that road goes". Every said that before? Its been raining for the last two days, but I didn't care, I have four wheel drive and winch in case it gets to bad. The road got to a point where it had water standing on it. You know, low ground that has a way of never drying out. When you add that with the weight of a F250, well, bad things happen. I put in 4 wheel drive and hit the gas, had to, there was no where to turn around, plus it was only like 100-150 ft of what I would call wet road. At some point the truck quit going forward. I tried going backward with no luck. Time to use the winch. Now, I love my winch. It has got me out of more binds than I can count. Something is wrong with the freespool, but it will power out and in. The bad part was they have clear cut this land just not to long ago, so just not alot of trees to tie to, but I find one about 90 ft away. It was only about ten foot off the road, but there was a ditch in between me and it. No way to jump across, so I walk on in. The water was over my knees! It much have been about 55 deg. out today, maybe lower. Well, I get all rigged up, and start pull my truck down the road. After a while the tires start moving the truck forward, good thing because I was almost to the tree. So, I put it in park and unhooked everything and tied it all to the front of the truck. Get back in and the truck went down in the mud again. This an't good. Wheeling and driving around the back woods should be fun. It was at this very point that I stopped having fun. I took off back down the road again to find another tree. I have a 120 ft of cable on my winch, plus 30 ft of chain, and two 25 ft straps. All of that was not enough to reach the big tree that was growing just out of my reach! The only other tree was closer wasn't near big to pull the F250 out. So, I tied on to it and pull it out of the ground. this is not looking good for the home team. Mean while the truck is still sinking the mud, talk about soft ground. It was almost up to the diff. A little back in the woods was two trees growing real close together, about 4" each. I tied around both of them and started pulling. Maybe if I had tied to them first I could have started move the truck again, but it was to late now. The truck had been sinking in the mud and now it was up to the diffs., front and back. I bogged the winch down to where it was drawing the max amps. I have a low battery alarm in my truck, and when it goes off you better let off the power on the winch. Because it will drain the battery and steal all the juice from the engine tring the turn the winch. Its bad when you are stuck and the truck want start. I pulled the snach block out of the tool box and rigged it up, that was when I pulled the two 4" trees, I was tied to, out of the ground. There was nothing to then, but start walking and report the truck stolen! All I would have to do is smash in all the windows and take the battery out. It would have been blamed on kids joy riding! Bad idea, I know, so, I started walking and called my wife to come get me before she went to work. I got back to the house and climbed into the Blazer and hit the road again. That was a cold ride, my clothes were wet, and I don't have the doors or the top on it. My wife came with me, but she drove her truck out there, just in case I got the Blazer stuck too she could get to work on time. I tied on to the Blazer, but it just pulled it backwards even with me spinning the wheels on the blazer. The Warn 12000# winch has what it takes, I'll give it that. While I was at the house I got my 6,000# straps I use to tie the Blazer on the trailer with. I went ahead a tied the front of the blazer to that big tree I could reach earlier. It only took a few seconds for the strap to brake. Sounded like someone shot a gun when it broke. Anyway I had to give up then. The last time I looked under the truck the mud was up to the tire rod. Tomorrow I'm going to go back out there and try tieing some 4"x4"x2' blocks of wood to the tires and see if I can get it out.
Just thought I would share my story with ya'll. I think my wife got some pics on her phone, I'll upload tomorrow.

I still think we should have done a "night rescue" with the dozer or trackhoe lol
Somebody would have felt sorry for us and bailed us out of jail!

I allways love you "stuck" stories! There was a thread on Pirate a while ago about several guys that were stuck and in need of help. Saw pictures of thier situation and they were not near as stuck as you have been. I HATE mud but like reading and seeing pictures of it.

I will see if they have keys in them tomorrow. They are only about two miles away from where I am stuck at. I just don't want to be posting up how we stole a track hoe and went to jail. If I can't get out before you get off we might try that. You had some good ideas earlier we can still try brfore we go there.

He has a big boat anchor--almost the same thing. Said it wouldn't hold in the wet ground.

Went back out there and got my truck today. I knew if I slept on it I could get it out. I took those blocks back out there, and worked with them some. Here is the first thing I tried.

I pulled straps as tight as I could, but this didn't work. Next I just started jacking up each tire untill I could get a block of wood under them. It was hard work, but after a while I had the diffs. back out of the mud. At this point I had a choice, get in the truck and try and drive it out, or hook the winch back up and get out the safe way. I tied on to the blazer. I still had 100 ft of road that was under water. With the diffs out the winch had no problem pulling the truck, plus I got to wrap up the cable on the winch real nice.

Glad you were able to get out relatively easy. It always sucks to have your rig spend the night. However, it's worse when you're in the middle of no where and you have to spend the night with your rig and outta .

It gives you a great deal of confidence to pull off into a mudpit when you have a dozer that you own on site. My 14,500 lb work truck is actually pretty good in the slop if there is a bottom to it. I have been in some real soupy mud that had a good bottom and would start pushing mud with the front axle and bumper. Back up and go around. If there is no bottom though it is going to be a long day. Good thing I get paid by the hour.

That was when I got in trouble, was when it started pushing mud in front of the tires. The water in the ditches was over my knees, so I couldn't go around anything. Now the blazer could go anywhere it wanted to. I must have driven up and down the road three or four times, and it never made a dent on that road. When the F250 came out it left a 3" rut. On the front tires I had to put two boards under the tires. I had put just one under the each of the ones on front, but by time I got the back done, the front was back down to the diffs. again. I jacked, and jacked, and added boards, and jacked somemore, untill I was tried of jacking. I'm just glad that grass was growing in the middle, or the truck would have really been sunk in. Last time I got stuck I had it up to the doors. I got lucky that day because a track hoe drove by.

Well, the F250 considering what it weighs does a great job in the mud, you have the past pics to prove it but, as Xanthias said when there is no bottom the heavy rigs suffer. At least you had K50 to get around and help out. Glad you are back on dry land.
