tow rig advice

I've been trolling Craigslist looking at tow rig prices.
I think a short bus would be a cool rig, but not really sure if they can handle pulling my pig on a trailer. I like idea of a short bus cuz I could remove some seats in the back and have great cargo area, maybe even room to set up my inflatible mattress.
My other option is a one ton van. This would be cool, except I would lose head room and cargo space.
The coolest option is a shuttle bus. Again not sure of pulling ability, but they can be made to be pimp as hell.
If anyone has any input I'd love to hash it out. I'm.planning on buying one at tax time if I can find one.
Right now short busses are around $2500 for a decent used one. Old work vans can be had for under that.

I was looking at doing the short bus tow rig too and some came with diesels. I just never got around to it.

Hiapo will become famous soon enough
I was thinking of doing the 1 ton van thing myself, but the short bus may be the way to go.

My Dad has an old VIA Bus he would prob let go cheap. Has air ride suspension and 60 Series Detroit two huge AC units. All it needs is batteries, and should fire up. I know they drove it to the house.

If you get a short bus, at least you'll know the windows were cleaned regularly. Seriously though, if you found one with a diesel, it might make for a decent tow rig with a few upgrades.

My gfs dad is a mechanic for n.i.s.d. and the older buses they have are 3 speeds with 454s and 502s with super beefy Eaton axles. I haven't really looked at the frames though. Don't know if they are boxed or C channel. The new ones are international (don't know which one) and Cummins diesels (6.7L) with a/c and LED lights.

But s.a.i.s.d has had diesels for 15ish years. It just depends on which school district you go with here in san Antonio.

I do know they have a "tow bus" in case any break down to tow it back to their shop. Its a beefed up 6.7L Cummins. It's possible....just gotta find the right one....which is the case for any tow rig

Most of the ones I see in my area for sale are 350 Chevy gas powered. I've seen a few diesels but the not very many

Maybe look for an old ford ambulance also. It might have the 7.3 ps. Plus it might even have an on-board generator. Just have to find one from an airport that hasn't been run hard.....
