What type of park is needed?

What do most wheelers feel would be the better approach or the most needed style for a wheeling park?

A more family oriented open wheeling area (2-3,4? rated terrain)with an optional pre scheduled moderate trail run lasting all day to a remote area for overnight camping. with an emphasis on being a motorized nature area. (i.e.nature park for those who can't live off fruit, nuts, and can't afford a personal trainer to get them in shape to hike there *** off like in all the other parks.) With a few dates during the year for big groups of people for extreme (4-5+rated wheeling in guided groups ala tree's,katemcy, ect.) wheeling.

-or-

Extreme wheeling oriented. Camping at entrance area. groups of 10+/- vehicles guided over harsh, brutal terrain meeting back at camp at end of each day to fix there stuff. With perhaps only a few dates to trail ride all day to back area's of the property for enjoying nature and overnight camping.

Any other ideas, feedback, opinions, drunken rambling is appreciated.

a moderate wheeling park where people with daily drives or not overly modified can go playing without tearing up the equipment. there already are a few extreme places (all rocks) for the hardcore guys, we need something like the river in uvalde was.

I'd like something where a person could go out and trail ride for a long time without worrying so much about tearing stuff up but still have a good time. Have some obstacles but nothing to extreme. then also have some trails that are nothing but obstacles, boulder after boulder that really works the suspension and the drivers skills are put to the test.. maybe a boulder filled gully a mile long or so that takes a well built rig a good while to complete. ( like Die Tryng trail in Montrose, Co.)

but for a well-rounded park you need something for everybody. Like the others stated everything from a daily driver to a custom tube buggy, Mud bog pitt and or muddy trails for the mud folks, rock garden for the rock folks, long moderate trails for the folks who just want to get out of the house for a weekend...etc

txhotrod just gettin started
I agree with Rastus on that and we need one closer to the Houston area, fuel costs too dang much to be able to afford to travel very far every weekend!! The last trip we made to Shiloh Ridge carrying all of the rigs and the support gear cost me almost 250 just in fuel, can't afford to do that too many times a year. BTW does anyone know of anything closer to Houston, besides Spring, I hear there is a lot of controversy on that place, please corect me if I'm wrong!!

So basically if i opened on the weekends say fri noon till sunday afternoon.
set aside a small area (say 1000-1500 acres in an area with the river, small canyons, arroyos ect) for anytime wheeling ,go where you want, while at the park .
and then did a guided run perhaps starting saturday morning for the few individuals that feel the need for some scary stuff.
that would be the ideal regularly scheduled program?

Sounds pretty good.

Would this be open year round? Reservations required?
Swimming allowed in the river?

Would this be open year round?

most likely. accept for a few weeks i.e. x-mas, thankgiving,. yearly hunting trip.

Reservations required?

only for areas outside open wheeling area, private runs, ect.

Swimming allowed in the river?

designated as underground river. surfaces in areas not too deep. told can cross it by attourney since it's not navigatable.

where is this located?
about 1hr out of rocksprings.

well finally closed.

heres some pics

http://www.texas4x4.org/gallery/Consafo

sorry there not many photos of actual wheeling but its hard to photo yourself
while driving. especially when half way your master cylinder starts losing fluid (no brakes )

But the property seems to have alot of promise

yeah if you like hill climbs you can have a true white knuckle experience.
but it's the miles of pure rock canyon bottoms thats cool.
I didn't really get any pics of the ledges boulders and waterfalls.
