I hope this is not a sneaky question they are asking. I agree there should be some limits on where offroaders can go. It's hard to tell what the underlying issue is with this question.
Quote:
Do you agree with the regulation to restrict off-road vehicles to certain parts of national forests?
And I read the connected story:
Quote:
The new policy would require all 155 national forests and 20 grasslands to designate roads and trails that are open to motor-vehicle use. But for the first time, heavily traveled “renegade routes” created illegally by off-road drivers could be designated for legal use.
So I am going to vote YES, some restrictions are a good idea. In other words, I support the Forest Service's plan for keeping, but controlling, offroading.

And the story continues:
Quote:
Forest Service Chief Dale Bosworth said the new policy encourages off-road enthusiasts to use the forests in an environmentally friendly way.

“It’s my belief that most users want to do the right thing,” Bosworth said.

“Land managers will use the new rule to continue to work with motorized sports enthusiasts, conservationists, state and local officials and others to provide responsible motorized recreational experiences in national forests and grasslands for the long run,” Bosworth said in a statement.

Off-road coalition’s view
Don Amador of the Blue Ribbon Coalition, an Idaho-based group that advocates motorized recreation, called the new policy a good start and said he would encourage group members to participate as the Forest Service designates trails.

If you look at the wording of the question, it asks if offroaders are a major cuase of the damage. thats rather misleading.

Actually, the survey asks if you agree with the Forest Service's new rule. At least, that's how I read it. But the communist media can make the poll mean anything they want when they are done because of the way they worded the question.

No, we are behind. We want rules; we care about the environment; we want rules so that the idiots will be run off and/or thrown in jail. A vote of YES indorses the Forest Service's new plan which allows us access to most of the EXISTING roads and trails.

A vote of YES acknowledges that irresponsible wheeling can harm the environment.

Please please please read before you vote on anything folks.

Yes, all-terrain vehicles and motorized bikes are major sources of environmental damage.
does this mean everywhere in the park or just on non-designated areas

Quote:
No, off-roaders should be able to enjoy all areas of forests and grasslands.
does this mean on designated areas or just run willy-nilly all over the place

if you ask me, the wording of the poll is very vague on either the for or against side. thus the ability to twist it either way.

if you read the story it makes a little more sense on the voting, but i still think the poll is misleading either way

I voted by the way of the yes or no questions. Does it hurt? I said no, off-roaders should be able to enjoy all areas of forests and grasslands.

common guys!!!!!!
it's a TRICK question to add statistical validity to their efforts of keeping the public out of wildlife areas.

If "no" is higher, then the park services plan to ligitamize recreational trails in the parks should be stopped because everyone is against it!!

if "yes" is higher, then the majority of people feel 4x4's are damaging. so we shouldn't allow recreational trails at all!!!

The ideal response for the 4x4 community should be 50%-50% so it can't be used either way to create sensational statements/statistics of so called public opinion.

The counter (equally self serving) poll should be:

Do you feel there is adequate access to public lands and forests?

yes, the citizens of our great country deserve access to the natural beauty and wonder of our great land for generations to come.

no, people shouldn't be allowed access to or enjoy the benefits of public land and national forests.
