Where to go?

My wife has actualy said she would be willing to try going (learning to drive off road) 4x4ing other than the beach. So..... I need a trail/run that wont be to aggressive but fun. She has a stock Rubuicon Unlimited but claims she doesn't want the club runs. I am trying to convince her that there is safty in experience and numbers. She only wants to go with her girlfriend who has Rubicon (blind leading the blind). I think the rock crawler videos have her worried. So Im looking for a run/park/trail that is family orinated and stock/rookie friendly, camping a plus. Any sugestions?

Depends on how far you want to drive. Gilmer has a little bit of everything.

Long ranch would be perfect for a first trip.
camping by the river, a lot of easy dirt type trails, some
granite type area like at katemcy, and every tough part has a cutoff.
Joe is aso a great guy and the place has a very relaxed atmosphere.

jfraymond will soon be opening his place by Kerrville. TMTC will be opening the OZONA park soon, and there is Trees Ranch by Kerrville as well.

any of those would be fine and are not to far from SA. just let her practice in low range and get a feel for the jeep, try not to push her to hard and let her just grow into it..

Gilmer is Barwell up by Dallas, correct?
Long Ranch and Trees Ranch I stiill can't find location of.

Does this site have a trail section with location? I haven't been able to find one just the forum discussion. The mountain bike site I frequent has a tab with park, location, discription of trails and recomended ability of rider. That would make a time like this a little easier.

Long ranch is near Mason.
Tree's is past the YO ranch west on Hwy 41.

I believe there is a map in the long ranch thread.
and Tree's website has step by step directions.
