wierd huh?

yes it is wierd. my 1997 powerstroke diesel 4x4 crew cab f350 was manufactured in 01/98 but yet it is a 97 model. Ford says it is only called a 97 model because they didnt make very many powerstrokes during 98 (only in january) while they were making the new intercooler turbo diesel.

i have a VERY rare truck! i wish i could get a straight answer from ford telling me why when i bought the truck in april 1998 brand new and its called a 97?

just thought i would let yall in on my discovery haha

What was the first year for the superduty? 1999? If I recall, didn't they extend the last "old style" model year and start the new SDs early, actually skipping one model year?

yes they were supposed to skip all of 98 to get ready for the 99.. the superduty is a 99-up which i why i think it is so wierd mine was manufactured in 98!?!

Ford tells me i might have a one of a kind truck and if i wanted to, i could very easily go re-title it as a 1998 which would also help trade-in or re-sale (which i wont trade in anyways)

ratbasturd just gettin started
They had superduty trucks back in 91, they were just not sold like the rest of the truck line. Back then "Superduty" was a weight designation, they had a carring capacity of 1.5 ton.

I drove one in Washington State working for a towing company in 91 and 92

Then when they started putting the heavy truck frame under the F-250 they started slapping the name "Superduty" on them, before that you had to know what to ask for.
