Stranded at Pelican

Hey guys, last weekend myself, driving a 2001 Jeep Cherokee with a 6in lift, and several friends of mine, Mercedes G500’s-rich kids-, were off roading at Pelican Island, where if you were wondering now issues permits to off roaders from BP North America. While wheeling I managed to snap my rear Dana 60 Axle-don’t ask- that made my Cherokee an absolute wreck and Inoperable. I have since had the axle rebuilt and it seems to be working all right, however, there is a constant vibration in the rear differential while traveling on the highway. Could someone please help me, for I cannot figure out what is making this constantly ( http://www.texas4x4.org/showthread.php?t=98 ) annoying vibration. I have thought about putting in shims, however, I am not sure if this will help. So please if anyone else out there has had this problem, e-mail me, before my head explodes.

- Victor P.

P.S. If anyone in the Galveston area wants to help me with this, a cold case of will be waiting.

Check your drive shaft. Your U-joints should be the sameway. If they worked on your axle they would have had to have taken it off and may out have put it on right.

well first off welcome to the board! and how do you get a permit from bp? what did you break just the axle shaft? did you look at the carrier to see if its boogered up? did the person who rebuilt it pull the carrier for any reason, did he put the shims back in right? have you checked out yr u-joints? might have a bad one which when it starts going bad will vibe like crazy!!!! then get worse then break, usually when you dont want it to.... more info and we might be able to get you back to a vibe free ride and hook up to go wheelin out there sometime...i'm just across the bridge in TC
