Bed liner..Which one??

Been wanting to take all the stuff out of the interior of my fj40 and maybe have it soda blasted and then liner added. Problem is I don't know jack squat about which way to go.

For those who have done it themselves, which brand/kit did you use and did you like it? Has it held up? What did it cost?

For those who said screw all that mess and took it to get done by a "professional" who did you use? Has it held up? What did it cost?

Thanks in advance!

I used Durabak on my Zuki and it has held up great so far. My brother in law is a paint and body man and that's what he uses on all his builds. It was crazy easy and laid down very nicely. You pay more for it but the way I look at it is you get what you pay for. You can even get different colors and textures. Below is the link I used to order mine.

Not sure but do NOT use Second Skin products. Worst product ever...I've learned even though it's free, it still might not be worth a sh!t

Herculiner was used on the shop tables and they have been holding up well to a lot of harsh solvent and constant hammering on the tables.

But it's only 4 months old so far, so time will tell.

I like the texture of Line-X. It's smoother than the Rhino. Just preference.

I used Herc on the inside of my K5 ~5yrs ago, it has held up well in the covered half cab, but faded and worn very badly in the bed. I wouldnt use it again.

I plan on using u-pol raptor on the inside of my CJ7, I've read a lot of good things about it.

Thanks for the feed back. I know I have some rust issues that need to be adressed so I can either cut out the bad and replace the floor panels where it needs it or maybe POR15 the inside then liner? Does anyone know if liner sticks to POR15? Or should I just clean the surface good then liner and skip the POR15 all together?

if your not that worried about the rust, then i would just clean it up real good and just liner over it.

That's what I did. I took the wire brush to it and knocked off most of it. Wiped it down real good with thinner and laid down the Durabak liner. So far it hasn't shown any sign of pilling up.

I would think it depends how thin the metal is. If it is getting flimsy I would replace and then bed liner it.

I used some stuff call Gorilla Grip.Found it on the internet. Made by a little chemical plant in Florida. They have different textures and colors. I sprayed it in. $170 in all of it including buying a gun off ebay to spray it with. Had enough left over to do LumbertonZJ rig. I like it. tool bags don't slide around. It comes pre-mixed, just stir it up and spray or roll it on.

I like it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've had Line-X in previous trucks and they were really nice but I never hauled much in them so I can't really say how durable they are.

x2. never did mind crawling around in the bed of my truck when I still had the OEM bed. The CM flatbed (thanks to BigTex for a deal ) will get it if the paint ever goes bad on it.

interesting thread. heard of lizard skin? they make a heat shield spray on and also a sound deadening spray on that is basically the same texture as bedliner. i'm thinking of spraying my YJ in this stuff. i looked it up a while back and i THINK it was around $100 for each can, so $200 to do both. don't get my lying but i want to say that was enough to do a jeep tub and then some. now you got me interested in it again, i'll have to look it up.

I don't think the Lizard Skin will hold up to abuse. It's used for what you listed, sound deadening and heat shield. It's made to go inside tubs and under upholstery. It is sand-able and printable to match interiors.
