Custom Dash n Consoles

I'm wanting ( going to ) to build a custom dash and console combo for the TJ. Console will have tranny shifter, twin sticks for the xfer case, cutting brakes, switches for lights, cup holders, etc. Dash will have the usual assortment of guages.

who's built one and what kind of ideas do you have or if you were building one what would you build into yours?

drawing and or pics are a help

Are you going with cable shifters? You can do some neat things with those.

Down and dirty cupholder... <---clicky

I whipped out this neat little cupholder a while back. It holds cans and stuff securely so they can't tip, but when you put the big 44oz ones in there they sit up high and have some spring to them--and don't spill. Also added a cutout on the upper right for my smokes, and one below it to hold my cell. There's a little lipped tray under there to keep stuff from falling out but still easy to clean. The whole thing's just screwed to the floor in the 'burb.

It's not really a console or dash, but it's a dang good cupholder!

Reddog told me the same thing last night.

I like the look of this one from NorthwestFab $279.00

Did they ever get the cable issue worked out. I know when I was looking at them that there was alot of problems with the cables breaking. I havent looked in a while to see if they got a new supplier for the cables. NWF doesn't make their own cables. Never heard anything bad about the shifters, just the cables.

you can always build your own cable shifters:

http://pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=572045

see post 3 for part #'s

and I was considering this shifter:

from Speedway: http://www.speedwaymotors.com/4-Spee...fter,2670.html

but they make a couple other shifters that'd work just fine if you only need 2 levers:
http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Economy-Shifter,1928.html $20
http://www.speedwaymotors.com/3-Spee...fter,1929.html $45
http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Falcon...fter,8319.html $120 very blingy

This is the dash that I made for the Zombie.

Please excuse the tranny temp gauge temporary mount. I needed it but didnt have time to add it to the dash. I later took it completely out because I pulled the th400 and added a SM465.

I thought you were selling the 300. Or are you just using that as an idea?

when I do this, It will be a Art Carr shifter with the man reverse valve body in a Turbo 350... still a lil ways from doing it. Need to gather up some parts.

I pulled ideas from two threads over on pirate for the crew cab dash, both have lots of good ideas and plenty of pics if you haven't already found these.

I highly recommend you make it so you have easy access to the business end. I have mine on a hinge. Also saw one on Pirate I liked. You wont be sorry if you do, you will be if you don't.
Get the boat style cup holders they pivot so stuff doesn't spill. Course if it never leaves the driveway it's not an issue.

This is what I did. Didn't want to spend a bunch of time so lets call it functinal. LOL
Note to self if you put a hinge put it on the bottom next time!

yj-4bt just gettin started
This is the way I mounted my Art Carr and NWF triple shifters. The triple shifters are forward output and the ArtCarr is rearward so I put cupholders and sunglasses holders to use as access for cable adjustment. Front side panels unscrew for further access. Also picked up 3 more shifter knobs from Art Carr to put on the NWF shifters because they are threaded higher so they don't sit up as high off the console.
