Fenders + Sawzall = Fenders - Metal

I'm just lookin' to get any advice I can on trimming fenders. I don't plan on trimming too much, but my front tires rub a little when I turn left and the truck leans to the right. I know I could just lift the front a little bit, or replace the worn springs, etc, but I'm VERY short on cash, and I eventually am going to be trimming fenders anyhow to make room for 33s. The truck is a 1988 Ford Ranger 2wd.

Thanks ahead of time,
-Brandon

Sounds like you will need to trim a lot if it is rubbing and you are only turning.

Well, this is my daily driver. When I don't have a passenger, I don't rub. Also, it doesn't rub on the driver's side. When I turn left (with a passenger), the truck leans right, and barely rubs the fender. I figured I'd take 2-3 inches off the fenders in the front. If I have to open it bigger, i can/will. I just didn't know if there are any tricks to it other than just start hackin' away.

Find someone with a plasma cutter, it makes a much cleaner cut.

I'll look into that! I didn't even think of usin' a plasma cutter. If I have no luck, I guess I could just grind it down after I Sawzall it to make it look a little better.

You can bring up to me, and I'll cut it for you, or let you use the plasma and you can cut it. Where is Moore, I looked at mapquest and there is two in Texas.

Moore is south of san antonio, but i'm not livin' there anymore. I moved up to Fort Smith, AR. I just haven't updated my info yet. I'm helping a buddy of mine run the River Off Road Park.

By the way, if anyone is interested, we have havin' an event for families on the weekend of the 20-22. Not sure if any of you could make it on such short notice. http://www.offroadparty.com. Even if y'all could make it, I wouldn't come up to this event. The company is in a management change (buddy's dad handin' the company down), and his dad hasn't really cared about the company in a few years. Next year though, when we are runnin' the show, it'll be a well run company. I'll make sure to post of dates of events, etc.

I would imagine it's actually rubbing on the lower backside of the fender versus the front. That's where mine has always rubbed. Taper it down a little towards the floorboard. The front tires like to jump back a bit, thus rubbing the backside. Go up a curb slowly, straight, 5mph, and listen. 1 or 2 inch bodylift can save ur fenders, for now. Cut-off wheels make for a clean cut also. My opinion.
