Sound Deading Material

What is a good sound deading material? I've heard of Dynamat and some stuff called something Brown, are their any others?

Wanting to do the inside of my cab on the D350. I mean the roof, back wall, floor pan, everywhere. Also the outside firewall under the hood. Want to quiet down the Cummins as much as possible.

Any opinions, comments or suggestions welcomed!

Shag carpet baybaaayyy.

Dynamat's good, but pricey.... dunno how it would do in the engine compartment.

I'm curious as to what the "brown" stuff you refer to is as well. I've used the fiber padding that goes under laminate floors in the rear of my sub to drown out the mufflers with pretty good results.

I can get a killer deal on dynamat extreme. If you are ever near north Dallas let me know. Shipping is out of the question because of weight.

Leper-- I appreciate the offer and I might take you up on it. My sister lives in Lewsiville so she might be able to pick it up. Let me check with OldGoat and see what he can get since he is only 45 minutes away.

Appreciate all the feedback guys!

Dynamat is expensive, but if you go to a hardware store you can buy stuff that is the exact same stuff, just cheaper. I think its called "aluminum insulation" at the hardware stuff, but I'm not positive. I saw some last time I was down at the lumber yard.

I just had a "duh" moment... I used that stuff on my boat. engine cover and in a couple other areas this summer... forgot all about that... worked really well replacing that crappy fiberglass insulation inside my old evinrude but I was using it more to help keep water out rather than sound...

good stuff.

Yeah! That is the stuff I was referring to when i said aluminum insulation, I just couldn't remember the brand name. It works well, I have it in the doors and in the trunk of my car.

Just found this stuff over on a thread at CK5.

http://www.quietcoat.com/index.html

I think it would definitely be the easiest to apply! Especially on the firewall and underside of the hood.
