likearock89 just gettin started
welding hitch to frame

on my dd i am gonna start doing alittle more towing and on my hitch it has bent the stock grd 5 hardware and i now have grd 8 but i have thougth about just running about a 4 or so one inch beads attaching it to the frame
any downsidesto this thanks

I wouldn't weld it. If the hardware is tight, and you're bending/breaking it, then you're overloading it. Frame rails are not real thick, and you'll tear the metal, even if the weld holds. Or... weld it completely on every available seam AND install all the hardware.

most frames are heat treated and you may weaken the frame by welding to it.

Welds well make the frame tear instead on bend.
My class4 hitch came with gr5 bolts so i up graded them.

What you pulling and the tow rig specs. Sounds like you way over loaded.

So your streching the bolts. Did you get think spacers to go on top of the frame. to spread out the load on the frame.
