YJ hard door ( small parts) question..

Ok guys, Inside the hard door there are some clips where the interior door latch attach..They are small clips and a thread rod pushes into them...Some how I manage to break this flimsy little clip and now I cant open my door from the inside....It looks like the clip has some type of rivet in it to secure it in place...I have pics if needed if you guys arent sure what Im talking about...Where can I get new clips, or what can I do to fix the door?..Any ideas? Thanks!

Wouldn't it be easier to just get them from the dealer?

hmmm, i would like to know where to get these too. i just bought some hard doors (attached to a wrecked jeep) for my YJ and about the 10th time i went to open the door, it wouldn't open. the same little clip broke on mine. i took the plate off of the door from the inside just like you did to get it open.

i would think the dealership would have these. i haven't tried to put the doors on my jeep yet so i haven't been too worried about it. good luck with it though, as soon as i get a little extra time i'm gonna try to find these too. later.

i thought i had it...

well, i thought i found something on teamwrangler.com from a yahoo search, but it turns out it was the little plastic piece that holds the rod onto the inside of the door handle where it makes a 90. i haven't given up yet though.

i wonder if you could zip tie it temporarily? from your pics it looks like the threads are too coarse to run some nuts on there and sandwich the clip. my doors are at my parent's house in goliad and i'm at school in corpus so i can't really look at mine and fix them. i don't have school tomorrow so i may go to the jeep dealership and see what they say though. in the mean time... i'll be lookin. later.

probably, but I dont know what it is called and explaining parts to people is like trying to explain how a flux compacitor works...I will wait till my jeep is drivable, and take it to a dealer so they can see the peice in person, but till then I was looking to see if someone knew any info...this is pretty commonn, but you cant find much info on the topic...

Call Brett at Collins Bros. Jeep in DFW. He should be able to help you out (or at least get you in the right direction).

Just out of curiousity. Im away from my doors during the week so I cant compare. Are those coarsly ribbed rods or threaded rod?

How bad would it bind up if you just tack welded the rod to the lever? Would get you away from that flemsy clip right?

I was going to do that ( if my doors were crappy condition I definatly would do that)..It would be too hard to repair later if i did that...ill just do it right, or do something that isnt too hard to un-do if I find the right part... I think I am going to weld ( TAC) a small washer and nut to the rib'ed rod...If Collins Bro. cant locate something...Thanks for everyones help so far!!!
