Brand new to here, would love some help

Hello everyone, I am brand new here and am in need of some serious help. I am about to buy a '95 Jeep Wrangler. It is a stock model and I am wondering what I need to add to it to make it 4X4 ready.
I am thinking this so far:
6-inch lift
35" tires
Adequate winch
Skid plates (not sure which ones)
New bumper
Brush guard

Is this adequate or do I need more/less. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome to the board. I'm willing to help you more then you can imagine. DON"T BUY A HEEP.

Only playing. All depends on what kind of wheeling you want to do and how serious you want to get into it.

go post this on the general discussion section of pirate4x4, they'll give you good answers. lol just kidding, sounds like a good start to start out with. hold off on the winch until you decide you really need it...a $60 strap will go a long way . Don't forget about gears as well as lockers if you're serious about getting the most out of those 35s...there's more but I'll let everyone else chime in

I was thinking about mudding along with some lower key rock crawling sites. Nothing too crazy just yet

lower gears, lockers front and rear and some 33's, if you are new to offroading. 4:56 gears would be a good choice. you can do a 4" lift easy and if you just have to run 35's you can. a SYE kit in the transfer case would be smart as well. bumpers and brush guards are for bling, they don't get you through a mudhole or over the rocks.

Go drive it the way it is, following a friend with a better built rig. Whenever you find something that gives you fits, upgrade it.

I've become fond of watching an older wheeler in our club. He's got a mostly stock '97, manual, with a body lift, 32's, and a front locker. Some of the more parts-happy rigs don't have a thing on him. It amazes me everytime we go out. Nice and smooth, quiet, and if you weren't paying attention you'd miss him completely.

........
35" tires
I think you're sure to break your stock axles with 35s if you get traction. Especially, if you get lockers. Go full size.

Is that the one that you posted about in the for sale? That is a real beauty and I was looking for a black one. I'm definitely interested in that one.

I totally agree with dubbyx -- my boyfriend drives a 98 ext cab Taco - 32", about a 3" body lift, and a little work on the rear suspension -- he can keep up with most guys with 35" and locked. If you are new -- kinna like me -- start slow and upgrade with you feel it neccesary. We are building a truck to play in but we are not going to build it to where we wont have any fun -- I dont want to be able to say nothing is easy But do get your armor taken care of -- rock sliders, roll cage or exo, skid plates whatever you think you need.
