Howdy!

Hey guys, just found this site the other day and thought it would be a good source of info. So far it has. Im planning on building a blazer (hints the name) so any input will be greatly apreciated.

Just last night i just purchased a old '78 chevy parts truck to steal parts from. I payed 500 bucks for it and got a dana 44 front, a 14 bolt corporate rear, a manual 4speed tranny, a 205 t-case and a ok set of 16.5 wheels. From what i have heard these are some good parts to start with. Now i just need a truck to put them in.

Anyways, just wanted to say hey and hope sometime in the future i can wheel with yall.

sounds like a good foundation for a nice wheelable rig. just be careful not to pop a bead on the 16.5 and don't overstress the 44 with too much tire. as always, pictures would be nice.

are you sure the 78 has a 44 and not a 10 bolt??
generally 77 was the start of the switch over from 44 to 10 bolt, although there is not much strength difference between the 2.

btw, welcome to the site.

good luck with the build.

Had my dad go with me to look at it since im new to building trucks, petty sure its a Dana 44 tho. Ill check it out tonight. I dont think the stength will be a problem because i prolly wont run bigger than a 35 or 36 inch tire and am either going to put in 4.11 or 4.56 gears depeding on the tire. Im in high school so im going to be asking lots of questions here.

Automatic transmissions are gay.

Went and looked at pictures and it is definatly the d44. The stock d44 came with 3.73 gears right? I cant find a tag on the rear axle but the front one is all bent. I belive it says 3.73
