Thumbs up Irving TX here

Finally joined the site here. I live in Irving but work in Midlothian south of Dallas out on 67. I am 35 and a mechanic/ on big trucks-trailers. I have had alot of 4x4s but have my favorite an biggest yet now. It is a 84 GMC Jimmy. specs are as follows:350 TBI (love it)
400 shift kit
NP208 (wish it was a 205)
3in body lift
4in rough country springs lift
35-12.5-15 Remington Mud Brutes (great 4 the price)
Originaly black on black/grey
currently primer about to be shiny black/bedliner on outside
inside is still nice with rubber mat.
I am looking forward to getting together with some of you guys an gals around D/FW to do some off roading..I am more into muddin than rock climbing but would enjoy trying an watching if that was the thing..
I currently go to 2 spots to go mudding.
Off of spur 408 (loop12 to I20) behind the Potter house church, it is pretty lame for my truck now..but when I had my yota it was a real challenge to not be stuck. I go every once in awhile now just to own all the old holes I used to get stuck in .
2nd new place I go is on 'old ft worth road' the call it 'the hills' please if anyone here goes out there too let me know cause I have 4 other buddies that are gonna go on a planned ride out there an the more the better
You get there by taking 67 south to the 'loves' in Midlothian..exit there, it is right before the 287 exit, make a right stay on road till ya see the tore up ditch on your right about 3-4 miles down..can't miss it big rutted up ditch crossing. and enjoy

Well I guess that is pretty long for an intro..Now I am here I feel better already.Look forward to making new wheeling friends an learning something in the forums.
cheers

Welcome.

I used to live up the road from Old Ft. Worth Road. I'm pretty sure that is private property, have you ever talk to the owner to be sure yall are there legally?

WOW...fast replies, sweet, OK let me know about the gilmer runs..but I don't have 'rock sliders' and I am very fond of my almost perfectly staight 25 year old Jimmy body lol so please be nice..I have NEVER tryed the rockclimbin thing.
The owner of the land on ol Ft Worth road is a friend of my bosses best friends buddy that was in the same class in 6th grade together when his cat was run over by the nieghbors aunts 2nd cousins Mom. So I am pretty sure it is illegal..really I don't know but it is hella tore up already, deep ruts very off roaded an used alot by someone..all my friends say it is no problem out there but I guess I should post that I AM NOT THE OWNER OF THE LAND!!! Thanks for bringing that up...I only found out about it because of all my friends that go out there..like I said it is very used an out of the way..not like in Arlington by Trinity..I don't go out there.
Thanks Slinger..Hotrods-Harleys an 4X4s are my thing

I loved that lil truck..but it had a coupa issues..like all the drive train had 322,000 miles (testify!!) and it was very reliable BUT it had 322,000 miles of play in the trans 5spd transfercase an diffs...I also have 2 boys that love to go muddin and they are too big to fit at the same time in the lil truck..that and it had no power to play hard..lot's of stuff but I will never bash it, just moved on to a bigger toy that the wife an kids can all go with me at once and the top comes off, kids love that and it throws huge rooster tails and chunks of mud (thats the part I like).
here is a pix behind potter house with the kids..12 an 13 years old

after I painted it..

It is gone but if ya see it you will know it WAS mine lol..
