Killeen/Temple/Ft. Hood Area

Hey guys and gals I'm new to here, got a 98 Chevy K1500 stock. Plan on doing a SAS in the future when money allows. Hoping there's some other fellow diggers on here around my area.

Yep, 88 Mike Truck Driver. Got to Ft. Hood Sep '10, deployed to AFG in Jan '11, got back here September last year and bought my truck.

Welcome to the site...There are a bunch of guys and gals around there! not too many places to play in the mud except for on ft. hood, but that is not always a good plan! There are some other spots that arent to far away, but mostly everywhere I usually play is rocks with the occasional hole to dunk my tires in... I am working on digging a deeper hole on my property, but it takes lockers to get up there!!

Yeah I've found that out the hard way, but there is a decent spot i've found behind the yamaha dealership off 190. Nothing too special but it can be fun.

It is not illegal, it is frowned upon by the range control personel.... Fort hood has a 'no tearing up cattle land' policy, but as long as you dont make new trails and dont go into the impact areas, they are pretty relaxed about it.... now if you tear up a perfectly good field on the other hand, you are D-U-N!!! As long as you call in, and tell them you are gonna be out there with a valid reason, and stay in the area you tell them, then you are good to go, just have to stay on the tank trails and river trails- easy enough to live with, Right?

I think he is talking about the place off of 190. which looks to be owned by txdot, making it illegal.

Someone told me it was owned by the yamaha dealership. I see people out there all the time but you're right, doesn't mean its legal.

I have gotten a ticket for offroading on Fort Hood, but I didnt have an area access card at that time. I usually head back in the trails behind Engineer Lake though. there's some decent ruts and a few rocks. I take it easy since my truck is still stock though
