YRYDLO just gettin started
NE TX newbie

I have looked around on this board before and finally decided to join. I have a 74 K5 I am going to start gathering parts for. It was redone MANY years ago and then abandoned. To let you know the quality of the build it had lift blocks up front and some nice yellow paint sprayed on the frame (truck was originally a baby blue looking color). It sat for at least 15 years in the back yard of the owners dad and in that time a big limb crashed through the removable top and demolished it. I also have a 75 2wd Jimmy so I have another top and I was planning on making it a roadster type truck anyway so it would not need the top. I have not made any definite plans yet (do any of us ever make a plan and stick with it?) but hope to get some ideas soon

YRYDLO just gettin started
Thanks for the welcomes everyone. I am just outside Paris which is 100 miles NE of Dallas. Oh I forgot to mention that thanks to this K5 sitting so long it is still technically a low miles truck....I think its less than 90k miles on it haha. You sure cant tell it from all the rust though. I saw somewhere on here last night someone had some stainless floor pans in their ride but I was at work and I cannot remember the post I saw it in. Since mine will need some floor pan work (piles of leaves year after year is not good for these) I was thinking this might be a good way to go. Lets just say I doubt there will be much chance of this ride having any carpet.....maybe rhino-liner or something similar. I will be starting with the suspension first so any suggestions are very welcome. From what I have read so far its hard to go wrong with a Dana 60 but finding which one to use is a touger chore. I think I know of a wrecking yard not too far away with several to choose from. The truck will be used mainly rocks and hills but the occasional mud bog might be thrown in for good measure.
