New in amarillo

My name is James Hyde. I live in Amarillo and have a 94 xj that i bought completely stock and put on a 6" long arm lift kit and 33" KM2's. I trimmed and folded the fenders, welded on frame stiffeners, made rock sliders, tc skid and fuel tank skid along with front and rear bumpers and a truss for the hpd30 front. I also made shackle relocation brackets and a crossover mount for my rear shocks and moved the shock mounts on the axle up even with the axle tube.
Will be doing axles, gears, and lockers within the next few months.
I have been into hotrods for the past 10+ years, having had 3 ls1 vehicles, a 72 gmc truck, and a t-type but have been working on the xj since May and it has been alot of fun working on it and just recently being able to get it out and test it.

I'll upload a couple pics later.

Thanks guys, it was nice meeting ya’ll, look forward to hangin out again.
Here are a couple pics and some more are at the link in my sig along with a few of my past rides/projects.
Oh and technically I'm not new to Amarillo, lived here since 1995, just new to the offroading scene. My dad was into it and mainly going to the mountains but this is only my second offroad vehicle. I bought an 04 Grand Cherokee last January and did a little bit to it but realized quickly it wasn't gonna do what I wanted to I sold it and got this one.

I doubt it would help. It says toyota all over it and I still hear people call it a jeep. I gave up and just go with it now. lol

After you pulled up and a couple other of the tubed rigs pulled up, Gerald was kind enough to point out that I was the only jeep out their

It's an awseome rig Harley and I enjoyed watching it, along with the other rigs. I always seem to start out small, saying "I'll just do this and that will do what I want to do" then it just kinda steam rolls from there. It has been that way since I got my truck about 14 years ago and will probably never change no matter what I have as a project.

But for now I'm content and as time goes on I'm sure things will get cut up, replaced with tubing and larger tires will go on along with bigger differentials.

No problem Nick, glad I could help out.

Good looking rig, and welcome. I had a xj out there with a d30 and 8.8 and only 35s and had a blast, dont have to get to crazy just yet.

I thought about going with an 8.8, but I decided to stick with the chrysler 8.25 and do 29 spline alloy axles with a detroit and make a truss and torque arm for it. It should hold up for what I wanna do and my driving style....for awhile anyway.

Yeah, I did alot of readin before hand and that was one of the main reasons I settled on this particular jeep. I tend to over analyze everything though... My wife always gives me a hardtime about it.

Hey Courtney.... anytime, it was my pleasure.
In regards to the d44, I think I'm gonna stick with the d30 for awhile since I already bought 30 spline chromoly axles and air locker for it. I think it'll hold up to my 33's and laxed driving style for awhile anyways.

Hope the repairs/upgrades go ok on your front end.

Part of the game. I have been staring at it. I want to link it but I want to wheel it saturday so I'm thinking about just throwing some new leafs under it and going again.
