New Guy - Mabank - Samurai

I am new to the forum and want to introduce myself. I live in Mabank, TX. Have a 1988.5 Samurai with some mild mods. I bought my samurai about 2 yrs ago with a homemade spring over lift on some tall perches sitting on 235/75s. It was very clean (no rust) and ran great, but the guy really cut some corners on the lift. All he did was put some tall perches on top of the axles, moved the axle shock mounts to the top of the axle, and went with it. So the stock shocks and the drag link were preventing any flex. I put on a z-link for steering, some extended brake lines on, swapped the tires for some 31s, and began using it as my DD. I have put almost 40k miles on it in its current state. As it has been my DD and funds have been short, I have not been able to do anything but maintain its road worthy state as I cannot have it down for even a day.

Finances are now in better shape. So plans for this summer are to buy another car to takes its place as DD, and start doing some major mods. First and foremost I plan to rectify the suspension situation this summer, by starting with Sky manufacturing spring over deluxe kit (standard spring perches, driveshaft spacers, long travel shocks, shock hoops, braided brake lines) and full Hi-steer setup. Over the next year, 33" tires, 6.5 transfer case gears, lockers in both ends, and hopefully a 1.6 16v to replace the tired 1.3L. I do have a , torch, and plasma cutter, so somewhere in there I will have to get some bumpers (and winch), roll cage, and sliders built.

Most of my mechanical and 4wd experience has been with full size trucks in the past. I had initially thought about getting a jeep, but the samurai fit the budget better at the time. I still have an old 4x4 3/4 ton, but I have fell in love with this little samurai since getting it, and plan to have it a long time. My friends and family have affectionately named it Tonka. Well, I have rambled on long enough. Look forward to learning alot from you all. I will try and post a picture up of Tonka soon.
