New Newb

Hello all!

I've been a lurker for about a month now. I currently reside in Ohio, but will be down in the Houston area soon. I currently have "no" rig, go figure, and that's rare for me.

I've only owned two: a 90 YJ and a 73 EB. Both have been sold or traded off. My next endeavor is probably going to be something with a longer wheelbase and more practical, not that my priors weren't. I'd like to build something streetable and Hellish offroad. I don't plan on making my future project a dd, just something I can run down to the local liquor store in. I'm thinking Toyota 4runner this go, but I'm not picky.

I used to live down in Texas, so I'm pretty familiar with the change I'm going to have to get used-to. I've never wheeled down there, so any clubs and meetings around Houston would be appreciated. Also, if anyone here doesn't mind someone ridin' along, I'm a good co-pilot. I'd just like to get a feel for the terrain so I know what to build, before I build it. I'll be down there for some time... maybe the rest of my life.

Any way, looks like you run a great board here! I'm eager to get down there, get a rig, build it up, and see what I can do with it.

Later!

Thanks for the welcome's, all.

BB, I'll probably be on the west side for a few months (apartment) until I buy a house. I'm looking for something in the Spring area... probably. Maybe as far as Conroe. It all depends on how big the garages/shops are. I could care less about the house part.

Good call tapping into the board before the move. I'm up in dallas area, but down in Huntsville occasionally (not behind bars unless they have booze in 'em) 45 miles north. My XJ is still streetable, will let you know when I am heading down.

Yeah, I've been lurking for a little bit. Hard to find a good board these days.

Sounds good, man. I used to have a 98XJ Limited as a DD but sold it to a guy that came back from Iraq for a good deal. Wish I kept that thing and built it up! Real capable rigs, IMO. Perfect wheelbase for what I'm used-to doing.

Thanks again to all for the warm welcome. Hope to meet you all out on the trails, soon.

Cool, and thanks. It'll be at least 6 months from now. I have to sell my old one first, and it's a buyer's market up here in Ohio. I see that it is a buyer's market in the Houston area, too. Love/Hate for me.

Thanks again. Look foward to meeting everyone one day.
