Noob 4x4 guy from west TX

This site was recommended to me by ClovisMan from ifsja. I'm a total noob to 4x4's I've built and raced several dirt track and bracket cars over the years, but know nothing about 4by's. I'm learned quite a bit over the last week or so planning a build on a Jeep j2000 (327/?/Dana 20, Dana 44 front, Dana 27 rear) I picked up a few weeks ago. My 10yo son is helping me on this build which I'm very excited about.

I'm recovering from a major accident at work about 3 1/2 weeks ago, so mainly right now I'm just trying to learn a little and plan what I want to do with the truck. I have managed to get a little work done on it the past week or so. Pulled the bed and front clip and started cleaning on the frame.

I live in west Texas and I love to fish (also I'm an oilfield fisherman) I know it's cheesy but them again so am I (BTW I've also been accused of being a gear/parts whore LOL I've got way more fishing hunting gear than I'll ever need but I still buy more)

wow, what a small world! Stop by sometime and have a or a coke or tea or whatever. I need all the help I can get lol. I feel like such a dumba** trying to figure out what I got and what I want to do. I know I want to run the recentered H1 wheels and 37x12.5x16.5 wheels and tires that 406yj on pirate sells but after that IDK. My name is Kevin and I live on Shannon if youd like to shoot the breeze and do a little bench wheelin' sometime stop by or shoot me a pm.

First thing I would suggest is to ditch the stock axles. Find a set of 3/4 or 1 tons out of a chevy. 3/4 tons will work fine for mild wheeling, but if you plan to get too extreme 1 tons are the way to go.
