Walnut Creek Ranch - Cental TX 3/11-12

Walnut Creek Ranch - AJE Sponsored Event

March 11th and 12th 2006

$100 per vehicle / driver, $20 per passenger (includes meal ticket), kids under 5 free (no meal ticket).

Meal ticket includes 5 meals (3 meals on Sat, breakfast and lunch on Sun)

Camping Fri (3/10) and Sat (3/11) is free (no electric or RV hookups).There is a bathroom onsite (but no shower facility).

No Pets allowed.

Location:
Walnut Creek Ranch 394 Pleasant Chapel Rd Cedar Creek, TX 78612
GPS Coordinates N30.02.125 W097.25.577
(only 35 miles from downtown Austin in Bastrop County)

=====================================
The terrain is mostly dirt/clay. All of our trails run along the bottom of Walnut Creek. The trails are up and down the banks with many off-camber turns and steep climbs / decents. There are lots of trees, but the trails have been cleared for mid-size 4x4s. Trails average a Medium Rating with plenty of Easy bypasses to get a stock vehicle through and plenty of Hard challenges that 35's and locked at both ends will have difficulty on.
=====================================
All of the information and contact information is here: http://www.austinjeepexclusive.org/AJEEvent.html

So this is only a event ORV park? No open weekend just to go wheeling?

No Fullsizes Trucks sucks. Where i keep my truck isn't very far from this place. would bea easy drive for me to get there. That sucks, i finally find a ORV park close to me and they don't allow full size trucks.

Man if you lowered the price to the 30-50 dollar range you would have ALOT of business. Since Austin is pretty much a middle ground for alot of people in Texas it would be a prime spot.
This just sounds like another YO ranch place

I think this cost is for this one event, looks as if they are supplying all meals.

Come on out. We've had a couple of guys with full size axles.

I don't agree with the full size limitations either. Personally I would love to see some full size rigs out there, but I'm not making the rules.

It is apparent the club is Jeep exclusive and wants to remain this way. It is unfortunate when drivers of a particular make can't seem to see beyond their vehicle type.

No, Toyotas, Samurais, etc. are welcome. Let's not be jerks about this. The land owner currently doesn't think full sizes will work on the trails. For this first event we are basically trying to show the land owner that we can play nice and be organized. We have already discussed opening this place up to everybody, but first we need to show him that we can make it work.

Yes, we are a Jeep club with a stupid name. Most of us could care less what you drive and own different vehicles ourselves. Jeeps just happen to be one of them. We're just looking for people to wheel with and have fun.

So this place could be open to the public? Any chance down the road he would let fullsize truck come out?

Not exactly open to the public every weekend like BMRA, but more of designated weekends like Katemcy, YO, Trees, etc.

I wouldn't be surprised if we can work things out for the full size trucks.

Of course we are still trying to figuring all of this stuff out, so you didn't here any of this from me.

Your website states you are a Jeep only club one would assume (including me) that you are trying to keep the runs Jeep only. I have no problem wheeling with all types, skill levels, etc. Matter of fact I rather enjoy wheeling with someone with little to no experience as it a chance to show them the sport. While in Cal we used to do an annual run through the Rubicon with all skill levels, it was a blast.

I would love to have a near by place to take my kids as they grow bored rather quickly on long runs and only good for about 2 hours of trail riding. BTW I drive a Scout on full widths, is that considered full size?

As quoted from the web site about the event -
"Open to all types of 4x4s. EXCEPT Full size rigs (Blazer / Trucks / Hummers). Trails were cut with Jeep Wranglers & Cherokees. Toyotas and other narrow-bodied vehicles should be fine."

A Scout should be fine. It's almost exactly the same size as a Cherokee which is what I've been driving through the trails.

I also have a Scout that is awaiting full size axles when I find the time.
