WFTW - May 2&3, 2009

WHEELERS FOR THE WOUNDED EVENT - CLOSED EVENT
DATE: MAY 2 & 3, 2009
LOCATION: HIDDEN FALLS ADVENTURE PARK (MARBLE FALLS)

LIMITED TO 100 RIGS

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: APRIL 20, 2009 or first 100 rigs.

Contact Richard Cruz - [email protected] to register and a sign up form and driver's packet will be sent to you.

This event is dedicated to our Wounded Soldiers and thier families. All rigs will be used for treating our soliders and thier families for a weekend of off-roading. Driver's family members attending event are encouraged to attend activities. Each rig will be numbered and rotate them trough the day. Example. Rigs 1-50 will be used from 10:00-11:30; 1:00 - 2:30; 4:00-5:00 and rigs 51-100 will be used from 11:30-1:00 and 2:30-4:00; 5:00-6:00. While your rig is not in rotation, you can use that time for your family to enjoy event and off-roading with your family.

TOTAL ATTENDEES is limited to 1,000 persons (500 military, 500 off-roading volunteers).

We have about 80 rigs registered so far, if you haven't received a phone call or a driver's information packet, you are probably not registered. We had 46 rigs register at the Nov. 1st event and the rest have been registered since then.

Here are a list of clubs attending this event so far:

Midnight Four Wheelers, Trees Ranch Council, San Antonio Jeeps Exclusive, Austin Jeeps Exclusive, Texas Jeep Owners, Gulf Coast Crawlers, TX TTORA, Military Jeepers, Krawltex, Toyota Land Cruiser

Thanks go out to all my committee members for all thier hard work on putting this great event together. Also, thank you to all the off-roading clubs and communitiy for donating thier rig and time for this event.

Let's show our deserving soliders and thier families how much we appreciate thier dedication to our country and for our freedom.

Richard Cruz

Explaination of Trail/Rig Format:

In order for BAMC/Fort Hood to allow thier soldiers to attend this event, we had to supply and organized and safe event. We have met with them and this is the format that they have approved.

The WFTW committee will choose 3 trails for this event.

Trial #1 - Red Trail - Extreme (rating 3/4)
Trail #2 - Blue Trail - Moderate (rating 2/3)
Trail #3 - White Trail - Easy (rating 1/2)

These trails will be marked and color coded so drivers know where to go.

All rigs will arrive Friday/Saturday and registered (# label issued to rig). All rigs will be staged by pavillion Saturday morning begining from 7:00/8:30 am. Driver's Meeting will begin at 8:30 am.

Rigs will be staged in one of 3 lanes:

Lane #1 - 3 open seats
Lane #2 - 2 open seats
Lane #3 - 1 open seat

Procedure for off-roading.

Solider & family arrive at staging area and request to go off-roading. We will explain levels fo trails and they will choose a trail. Trail committee will log family to assinged trail and load in rigs depending on # of seats needed for family. Rigs assinged will get a color card with trail selected and proceed out to trail and at trail head a table with medical/water/tools will be there to check card of rig. Once card is identified with correct color rig may enter trail. Once rig exits trail, rig must return back to camp and will be logged out as returning. Passengers will be unloaded and rig will be re assined to proper lane and continue process.

Trail committee will monitor number of rigs out at one time and we may have a rotation of rigs so you can spend some time with your family to enjoy other activites thought-out this event.

This may sound like a really stupid question but I will ask anyways. Does the owner of the rigs operate the rigs or do the soldiers just take off in them? Do you still need more rigs to volunteer? Thanks JJ
