4-HI seems to be engaging like it should, but when I shift to 4-LO, only front axle driving and gear in t-case grinding like it's almost engaged but not quite making it. Any recommendation on what might be out of adjustment on the shifting rods? Guess one of rods not moving far enough, but not familiar with the internals so I don't know which one it might be.
check for play at the connector thingys that connect the shift rails together, then from there to the shifter. theres some models with plastic bushings that wear out and dont perform complete shifts. they hit the floor when going into 4 lo. you could also have the wrong shifter for your application, theres a few different bends for gm 205s, early and late. not sure waht you have though.
started working when we got to the river, slipped right in... once or twice over the weekend it didn't engage fully, tried again and it went in. It's probably a combination of wear and not much room between shifter and floor pan going into 4-LO.
