Me and the family will be in San Antonio from July 1-6. We had planned on going to Sea World, Fiesta Texas, and the ZOO. Well the first two got scratched, so all we have is the ZOO. Can you guys help me fill the other days with good stuff. I know San Antonio pretty well, but never really vacationed there. Anything within an hour or so is cool too. Remember my kids are only a year old, so I guess its more for the wife and I. Any caverns, Museums, and other stuff like that would be cool. Also a night of some cold beer would be nice too.

The River walk ... the parks are really nice too ... Eisenhower or if you are into hiking Friedrich park ... Phil Hardberger (new one) ... Misson Parks - they rent bikes if you want to ride. We get together at the Thirsty Horse .. Live Country Band and cold beer usually on Thursdays. LUNA on San Pedro starts on Wed for blues and guitar live music and cold beer, too. Hope you have fun spending quality family time ! :) Juana

The river boat cruises downtown on the Riverwalk are neat. They talk about San Antonio history, some of the captains try to be funny. Daytime is fine, night is a little better cause it's cooler, kids should like it too.

I usually try to get out of town to go wheeling though.......strpot

forget the actual name, but its a drive thru safari and you "drive thru" in your car and throw feed to zebras, bison, goats, llamas, watusi, and others. Can be hand fed as well. There is a petting area where little ones can hand feed some fatbaby goats. wtahc out for the bison tho as they will put their whole head in the car window, and they bang those horns around.

My wife actually asked if any of the SA guys were gonna be around to hang out with. We had a good time with the Midnighters at K2. Looks like shopping on Sunday at La Catera, fiesta Texas on Tuesday, the Zoo on Wednesday, and whatever else we can fit in. Probably hit up the Natural Bridge Caverns or Kids museum also.

Thirsty Horse on Thursday night, if you can round up a babysitter.

BTW, if you go to the tower you will probably faint at the cost to ride the elevator up. Just argue with them and ask if they have a better rate. There was a news story about it and that was the tip at the end.

I gotta ask why the sea world trip didnt pan out?

My wife and girls really looked forward to going there, while i was quite sour about it...expecially at the gate. After going, seeing all the lil shows, checking out the waterpark and stuff I had a damn good time. In fact,I would go again.

Schlitterbaun(sp?) was just about the best time i have ever had in a hot climate, twice. Ill be spending that coin again,if only for all the tube rivers.

If your religous type of guy the old missions/churches are really worth a look.

My wife is the one that opted against Sea World. She thought maybe the kids were too young and wouldn't get into it. We've been to the missions before, and really enjoyed it. Better to go in cooler weather though.
