does anybody know where to look for a propane tank for my blazer. I know where some bigs ones are, like go all the way across the bed of a pick up. But I'm looking for a smaller one that would fit in the back of my blazer without taking up the whole back end. I was looking on the propane guys web site but he didn't have any pics of any.
we all use the forklift propane tanks...they are little expensive but nice new tanks are around 150 bucks a peice and about 65 for brackets..tanks are around 11gallon...
Nick, you ever get down to Dallas? I have a propane tank that might work for you. I'll get some measurements for you. You'll like the price if it'll fit in your Blazer.
I found 2 of mine for $139 brand new on ebay and he still has them listed for free shipping and when I got them they were well packed, no dings or scratches. I got one tank used from Hatch so now I have 3 tanks which should let me wheel a whole weekend.
The old old old tank I'm talking about for you is one of those truck tanks that (I think) was frame slung. I think it's short enough to fit across the back of a Blazer bed 'tween the wells. I'll WAG it's capacity and say 40 gallons.
My build is coming along. Still aways to be finished, slow progress working alone with no help. I plan on getting pictures this weekend, I just need to try and set the backlash on my 14 bolt, then I can finally fill it with oil and be able to roll it out of my storage to take pics. The main things left is the interior, cage, rear shaft, anti wrap bar and run my new wire harness. For tires I am waiting on the 39.5 Pitbull Rockers to be released "Hopefully soon"
Hey fulltop. This old rusty (on the outside anyway) tank I have is about 45" long and 20" tall including its mount. That ought to fit in back of a Blazer. Price is free, but you have to come get it (meet me at my folks' house since that's where I have it stashed).

I expect to be in Bridgeport, TX, in two weeks. Would shorten your trip a bit if I carried the tank that far.
I also have some parts waiting for me to come get them in Wichita Falls, but I haven't planned a date to make that trip yet. Once I go that far, I'll probably scoot on up to Lawton and visit my daughter. The WF trip is for sure, just no date yet.
ABOUT is the operative word. I'm pretty close on the length; might be couple inches taller than 20", but that does INCLUDE it's mount -- nice and flat on one side for securely mounting to a floorboard.
Oh yeah, and it'll come out of it's mount so you can clean it up and paint it. You'll want to paint it before you go get it filled. It's uglier than a rusty ol' blue Blazer stuck in a creek at Barnwell.
