It to get a tubbed chassis registered to be street legal? Is it as easy as a home made trailer?

I did it with a sand rail years ago. I think I used the original VIN from the VW.

I'm thinking of ditching my "Mistress" build and buying a new tubed chassis and building it with rockwells, 468 (700hp), th400, atlas 4 speed (11.2 ratio) 44's on propane. I would only drive it on short little trips around town goofing off and along the beach when not hitting the rocks. I have the vin and title for the 77 blazer the Mistress was at one time. I guess I could use that. :toast:

You could go that route but I think you can also have the vehicle inspected and get a green sticker. Then you take it to the dmv and a LEO looks it over and gives you the ok for a title. This is what I was told once anyway. I know that I went through something similar with a dirtbike I had made street legal. The very first step was to get insurance on it otherwise neither the dmv or the inspector will do anything.

Keith told me as long as it has 3ft on the original frame you can use that old vin number. So that takes care of the title part.
