Texas Jeep Corps is no more

Well this is the email that TJC members were sent. TJC has been closed down.

For those that couldn't make tonight's monthly meeting, you missed a hum-dinger.

The long and short was the it was voted to dissolve the BoD and club's Bylaws. We decided to go back to TJC's roots and be just a group of friends focusing on wheeling -- no need for the pain and stress of all the politics.

At the end of the meeting, only one issue remained. Glenn had decided to "sell" the site's domain name back to the club for $600. He wanted to recoup some of the $ he has volunteered over the years. We voted to not pay for it since this was a not-for-profit club and anything put into it is considered voluntary.

With this in mind, the meeting was adjourned and everybody went about their way.

I connected to the TJC site about 1/2 an hour later and found that Glenn was on. While talking on the phone with Robert we noticed that somebody (likely Glenn) was rapidly deleting everything on the site. It now sits as you see it today.

I'm guessing that Tim called and told him the happenings of the meeting. I'm guessing that Glenn pitched a fit. The site is gone.

Fine. Whatever.

So, while on the phone with Robert, I registered a new domain name, and I suppose with that act, created a new club. I set up a quick site and will be working with Derek (dman) to get the full-blown site up and running over the next several days.

In the interim, check out: www.texascrawlers.org

Its a simple site, but includes a forum so we don't loose contact with each other.

To that, I don't have everybody's e-mail addresses. Please forward this to whomever you might have contact with.

See you online,
-Rob

Sierra Wheeler just gettin started
You know, Rob shouldn't throw a person’s name around like that... I didn't take the web site down, for that matter, it's been so long since I messed with the web site I wouldn't know how to do that.. sql, php, all foreign languages to me. As for selling the domain, I just wanted the club to take ownership; I was stuck in the middle of people that wanted changes with the club and people that didn't (personally I didn't care too much one way or the other)... $600 was just a number that I threw out there (half of what I've paid for the site over the years); I've raised enough kids to know that when you give something for free, it's not appreciated as much. What I was hoping would happen is that it would get everyone talking and they would throw an offer out there... This would have shown me that they honestly wanted to keep the club going, 25 bucks and I would have been perfectly happy. Anyone that knows me knows that I could really care less about the money. Anyway, I won't say anything else regarding this subject in this forum... Just don't like my name being trashed, wish that I could have made the meeting and maybe it wouldn't have come to this (work got in the way)...
