High Muddslinger, general opinion in the sprung is the BAECAT 2 is a lot nicer rig than the IMG's... 400HP Cummings @ 2000RPM's 1200 ft lbs @1300. do a 60* grade at 2-4 mph. And cruise through 3' of water. (would go deeper except for the diff. vents)

BigJimmysrock the MSRP is only about 650K...Give or take a few thousand.
Get 'em now as the next model will be up-armored and heavier to defeat the shape charges, not to mention the price increase that will go along with it.

Before this gets out of hand, Unless I am mistaken, Dott was referring to the use of acronyms. those of us not currently serving have no ideas what all those letters mean, so a little better definition would be nice.

Yes, I set up this forum for our Military members current, former and future to use, Lots of us here have family members serving in the Armed Forces and are very proud of them, and we stand behind them 100% in their missions.

Hey Xanthias, thanks for stopping in for a look, and the support.

Thanks for your input fourwheelerjeff.

No problem here Rastus,
I put this thread up to give some exposure to these vehicles
and to share some information on a vehicle that has saved many lives.
Last count I heard there has only been 3 deaths in MRAPS.
A gunner died in a roll over, the others due to drowning after a mis-negotated turn.
I did not post to cause conflict or disrupt the forum by any means.

As far as the acronyms go I'll be more detailed in my postings.
But believe me ya' dont want to mess around with a Explosively Formed Penetrator...
even in a Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles.

Midnight, thanks for the link, I'll just be getting home about then, would love to make that event.
I can't think of a better use of time and resources than that!

Now if I could just find those pictures of the MaxxPro Plus.

Dott, please accept my apology for my reply, it was out of character and rude.
Those Hemmt's (Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck) are bad ***. The work horses of the armys stable for sure.
They are configured as everything from wreckers to fuel haulers. Now if they could just get the soldiers to secure thier M16's before they flip the cab up, they might be able to keep windshields in them...hehe

Hey fourwheelerjeff,

Yeah Muddslinger, the g'ment isn't very price conscious, KBR (Kellog Brown & Root) owns this country, I hear they get 50 bucks a bag for laundry, (heck they could at least use soap for that kind of money) and 70$'s a plate for meals.

Thanks for stopping in Vicsjeep,
One could probably trade a 5th of Crown Royal for the truck over here, (General Order #1 states we cannot have any fun while deployed), but the transportation cost by air is about 3/4 million.

Here is the elusive MaxxPro Plus

Notice the wet ground? No rain, no morning dew. Water just oozes from the ground. Maybe it is the close proxemity to the Tigres River, or maybe it just floats up on top of the oil reserves.... Regardless the end result is a slimey sticky mud that never seems to dry.

Apology accepted. I didn't realize it was a military forum. I just read the new stuff and don't pay much attention to what section it is in.

This is a massive rig, you know how much it weighs?

Thanks dott, that truck weighs around 33,000. by my best guess.

The new wave of Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTV's) are gonna be serious bad ***.
top speed around a hundred...3' lift on the fly, diesel hybirds, slap a bully chip to it and hang on!

Crap, I can't believe I missed this thread.

Kalsu, that sure brings back memories from the great summer of '06 when I was TDY (temporary duty assignment/station) down there. I never did get to see how the new DFAC (dining facility) turned out, we were still eating in the dungeon. The new 'City Center' we were working on seemed like it was going to be pretty peemp when we finished with it. I have a buddy that works for BAE and had told me about the Caimans, but we haven't seen any (atleast none with all the extra armor) here at the BIAP (Baghdad International Airport) MRAP (Mine Resistant/Ambush Protected) upfit yard. If you are ever up this way, slide out to the Transload yard and say howdy!

I have a buddy of mine working down there right now for KBR in their Heavy Equipment section. His name is Jason Gray, good peoples. Tell him Big Ed said howdy.

Tried to fill in the acronyms for you non-reg types.
