Got Rocks?

I do. Picked these up in Weatherford (man that was a long drive) on Wednesday evening. Thumper gave me the tip and I snatched them up. One is missing the hubs, spindles and shafts and the other one needs short side axles and a new spindle. Still will be ahead though for what I gave for them.

Here are a couple of pics.

That is very possible. Although there isn't much out there that will stand up to the 47s that these will be turning, for this cheap anyway.

Yes they are. I've decided, for now, to build a Formula Four Toy (4 seater F-Toy). Using a complete drivetrain from an early model Toyota truck. Will also being using a frame from a LWB truck for the base of the chassis. Got most of the parts and frame from Thumper just need to locate a 5spd tranny from a turbo truck/4runner.

It will look something like this.

I won't be running leafs, it will be linked front and rear.

Running a yota drivetrain I don't think I will need those, lol.

I'm going to get most of it from Red River, simply because he is in driving distance. I will get all my bearings and races from the local bearing house. I should have 2 complete new (rebuilt) axles for the cost of 2 stockers from Red Rive by the time I'm done. For lockers I will just weld up the carriers.

I know everyone welds their fronts, but may I suggest forking out the dough for a front detriot? I have one in mine and love it. I can steer lock to lock with two fingers on hard pack. I have drivin a lincoln locked rockwell truck and there is a real difference

I agree. I have the locker from Red River in the front. I think I paid $350 for the hole pumpkin and just dropped it in. gives you a spare pumpkin if you ever need it.

I really want to run the OEM lockers front and rear, but I'm trying to cut cost anywhere I can.

If I do weld up the center chunk, can I later put a locker in later? I know you can on a 14 bolt, but I don't know about the rockwells.

As long as you weld up the spiders into a ball you can go back and replace it with a locker anytime. That was my plan but really don't see the need in it with 4 wheel steer. Having a straight axle in the back welded front and back does bring the suck.

X2! I weld all mine, but I have rear steer. Welding isn't always a good thing. I broke an axle in the parking lot this weekend...lol!

I seen your ad and I might be if you still have them when I recover from buying the axles and yota drivetrain (still have to pay for) that I just acquired.

Just to let you know. the front and rear axle hubs inter change. Watch it on the bearing in them are to different size. for the spindles. If you pull the third apart. you can weld the spider gears up. And still install a detroit or another locker. All the bearings and seal can be found at you local parts house or bearing house. And go ahead and buy one peice boots. if you plan on running in water or mud alot. if not run the leather boots well work. ive been therw 4 sets of one peice boots in 2.5 years.
