Need some advice on Roc's and T-cases

I am needing some advice on part of my build. First off I'll give the specs of what I have and know for sure.

1. 1979 Truggie Chevy shortbed.
2. 6.2 ltr turbo Diesel.
3. Roc's front and rear. 1 steer.
4. Full exo cage.

What I need help with has been addressed in other post's but I still can seem to figure out what I need to do, my problem is that I am "like most people" on a super tight budget. I have 2 options :

1. Run a 700R4 and 208 for a super good price complete ready to bolt in.

2. Run the 465/205 that I have. Here is the problem here. I still need the flywheel and clutch, np205 to 465 adapter, 32 spline 205 input, and money to bore the 205 case out !

With the 208 better low gear, Slip yoke issue fixed, hooked to tranny "that works". Down side I don't have the money for a detroit in the roc on the front so it will be welded, no digs and multi-point turns being welded also makes this tough.

And we all know the bonus of the 205 twin sticked on roc's. Down side here is I loose gearing.

I am new to this and have been wheeling, but I really just want to wheel this thing and upgrade as I go and money allows. Any thoughts on what you guys and gals would do ? Thanks for the help !

I would think first gear in the 465 and low in the 205 would be lower than first in the 700r and low in the 208. Front digs are cool too! Sounds like a lot of work though to make the 465/205 combo work though.

Put the 27 spline 205 on the 700r4. Tada.
You need a th350/205 adapter and the techpak fit all spacer 7q35a

And you wont blow that aluminum case apart on that 208.

Yeah I guess it's all in how you figure it up. I have been told to use a 2.0 for the torque converter, Grim Jeeper uses a 1.0 in all lock up calculations ??? If you go 2.0 for the converter on the 700/208 the final is 107.34.

With Roc's 465/205 it's 86.40 ?? Who knows !

Never heard of it? Is Teckpak a company ? or did I miss something ? I know ORD has the spacer for 75.00.

goggle it young padawan. you put this spacer on a 4x4 700r4 like you have, and you bolt on a th350/205 adapter with the coupler and then the 205. you have a good transmission and a twinisticked tcase.

call up steven at ORD with some questions. the ORD spacer is the techpak spacer. it was $45 when i bought mine from nogalitos gear.

in fact, muddslinger in houston has that spacer on a trans thats on the board.

Why a 6.2??

I'd rather do a th350 for reliability.

Because Chevrolet was out of the LSX 454's !

And the 700 was affordable and came out of a running truck.
