Steering Flip?
Ok I have looked at it and tried to vision this a couple different ways and cant seem to figure out how to get my steering rod out of the way!!!! I thought about drilling the ends out and flipping it into a makeshift hi-steer setup, but then it gets into my pinion disc.... so I was wanting to either flip my steering to the back side of the axle, or put the pinion disc on the backside of the axle... but I havent seen anyone doing it this way so I figured I would see if you guys had any ideas? I have thought about welding a slider all the way across the bottom, but just dont really want to....
for your info- I have it setup as a drivers drop, so everything is setup on the front of the axle now..... I have went thru 3 stock replacements, and I sleeved one of them with some 1.5" HREW, and it only lasted one trip also!! I guess most of it is my fault, because I live by the rockwells rules of wheeling!!! first try- slow and steady.... second try- bump it.... third try- GET OUT THE WAY!!!

Just flip it around to the back of the axle.

Like Mitch said, flip it to the back side. As long as you have it on the front, you'll bend it. Nathan has a solid rod sleeved with 1.5" 1/4 wall square tubing and his still bent.

From the factory, 2.5 tons are passenger drop with the drag link trailing the axle.

I'm pretty sure he can't flip the steering, due to clearance with his link bars.....

I dont like my current front suspension setup, I would like it to move better- hence the 1-link idea... but being that I sit just under 10' tall I can see that being an issue in itself!!! I would like to bring it down some anyways though... I would just have to move uhhhh, pretty much everything!! I am only home for a little while at a time... so I will just keep breaking it and letting it sit for now, I am in the process of getting my brother in laws FJ40 right now, so I may retire my dodge from roadtrips and just beat it up in the backyard from now on if I can build the FJ!!

sorry for bringing up an old thread but im running into this too. my steering is out front but brakes are on back side. I want to flop those around. Am i able to just swap knuckles from side to side to put the steering behind the axle?

First idea
Add a push bar, it sets under the steering linkage. Needs to be thick wall tubing, it keep stuff from hit your steering link. And you can flip your steering link on top of the knuckle arms to. I dont think there tapered holes.. Second idea You could flip your knuckle arms to the back of the axle. But it giving a funny steering acermen. But your rig has long wb and rear steer so it want affect your rig that much. On my rig i just went high steer arms with a brace bracket tied into the stock arm. I have the rotor on the back to. and i machined the pinion flange ear off and moved the DE ram up next to it. And added a .250 wall pusher bar under it all. But now i want my DE ram higher. On the same plan as my steering linkage and move clearance. So im going to do some machining on my pinion shaft and shorten the lenght and move the ram up higher. OTC make a cool DE ram bracket the mounts to the third. That gets your ram up high and close to the axle. And move your ram out on the same line as your linkage or at a angle. Before you break your knuckle off or kill the busting.
