No offense but that is not enough information. For a 220v receptacle you will need either a single or 2 gang cutin box, and a 2 pole breaker depending on the amperage needed. Also a short run of wire also depending on amperage, and the receptacle and cover. 20 amps #12, 30amps #10, 40 amps #8, 50 amps #6. That should cover almost anything you would be pluging in. The boxes will be plastic and labled old work it will have 2 ears that flip up not nails. After you cut your hole run the wire into the panel and hook up the receptacle FIRST, then depending on style of receptacle you hook up the black and white to the new breaker and the ground on the ground bar. Close it up and check the voltage and your done. DO NOT TOUCH ANY BARE WIRES OR BUS BARS and you will not get shocked. Also make sure you are wearing good rubber soled shoes just in case.

Real easy if you need help, call.. Turn of all computers and cut off 200 amp breaker at top of box ( or whatever size you have.) Makes it much safer for those who are nervous.

You should probably check the panel and see if there is room for another breaker. If not, I've used the dryer outlet before.

You need to take that cover off and look inside. Get a good shot below the bottom breakers, at a little bit of an angle.

Yea it is a standard ge stab in breaker. Those are thin breakers refering to their size a normal one is actually the size of two of those. Home depot will have the breaker that you need. Ask for a 2 pole breaker in whatever size you need(still unsure) for a ge panel in a thin. since you are talking about using the receptacle for the dryer I am assuming(insert joke here) that a 30 amp circut will hold you. I am confused though I do not see any breakers over 20 amps in that panel so is this your only panel or is everything in the house gas?

In that 'hood and this general area, there is usually a 220 panel outside that feeds the sub panel for the outlets as well as the dryer, range and AC compressor.

You need a new "breaker", which is similar to a fuse, but not the same... I wish I could help, but I never done anything with 220, just little 110v projects.

Most of those folks at Home depot are confused enough, I just didn't want it to get worse when you said you needed a fuse for your panel.

PS - did you get Leroy his picture?

For the extension cord either one will have what you need. For the breaker, one or the other will have it.Not likely that they both will carry that brand.

The only thing that I would add, is make sure that you ground everything properly and safety first. Don't cut any corners and don't shave any wires. Use the proper cord grips or cable connectors at your boxes. And TEST YOUR VOLTAGE!!!, before you turn anything on.
Don't let the smoke out.
