THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN AUSTIN/SAN ANTONIO HAS EXPANDED THE


* FLASH FLOOD WATCH TO INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES IN SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS... BANDERA... BASTROP... BEXAR... BLANCO... BURNET... CALDWELL... COMAL... FAYETTE... GILLESPIE... GONZALES... GUADALUPE... HAYS... KENDALL... KERR... LEE... LLANO... TRAVIS... WILLIAMSON AND WILSON.


* UNTIL 7 PM CDT THIS EVENING


* EXPECT SCATTERED TO NUMEROUS RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 3 INCHES... WITH ISOLATED 4 INCH AMOUNTS POSSIBLE.


* DUE TO ABOVE NORMAL RAINS SO FAR THIS SUMMER... RESIDENTS AND VISITORS PLANNING TO BE NEAR LARGER STREAMS AND RIVERS SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR RIVER RISES THAT RESPOND FASTER THAN USUAL.

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS FLASH FLOODING IS POSSIBLE IN OR NEAR THE WATCH AREA. IF YOU ARE IN THE WATCH AREA... PLAN NOW FOR WHAT YOU WILL DO IF FLASH FLOODING DEVELOPS. STAY INFORMED AND BE READY TO ACT IF YOU SEE FLOODING OR IF A FLASH FLOOD WARNING IS ISSUED.

... FLASH FLOOD WATCH OVER SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS THROUGH 7 PM...
.TROPICAL DEPRESSION TWO CONTINUES TO WEAKEN WEST OF THE RIO GRANDE AND IS SLOWLY MOVING FURTHER TO THE WEST AND NORTHWEST. A MARGINALLY UNSTABLE ENVIRONMENT WILL CONTINUE EAST OF THIS WEATHER SYSTEM ACROSS SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS THIS AFTERNOON. SHOWERS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE NORTHWEST ACROSS THE AREA TODAY. SCATTERED RAINFALL TOTALS OF ONE TO THREE INCHES WITH ISOLATED FOUR INCH AMOUNTS ARE POSSIBLE IN THE WATCH AREA. ADDITIONAL RAINFALL THIS AFTERNOON COULD PRODUCE ADDITIONAL RIVER RISES ALONG THE RIO GRANDE... AND RISES ON OTHER CREEKS AND STREAMS WHERE LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN HAS FALLEN IN THE PAST FEW DAYS.

NORTHEASTERN FRIO COUNTY... NORTHWESTERN ATASCOSA COUNTY... SOUTHEASTERN MEDINA COUNTY... SOUTHWESTERN BEXAR COUNTY...


* UNTIL 230 PM CDT


* AT 1220 PM CDT... NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE METEOROLOGISTS HAVE DETECTED THUNDERSTORMS WITH HEAVY RAINFALL ACROSS THE ADVISORY AREA. DOPPLER RADAR ESTIMATED RAINFALL RATES UP TO 2 INCHES PER HOUR.


* RUNOFF FROM THIS EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WILL CAUSE MINOR FLOODING TO OCCUR... ESPECIALLY ALONG SMALL STREAMS AND NEAR LOW WATER CROSSINGS. SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE MINOR FLOODING INCLUDE...



CASTROVILLE... DEVINE... POTEET... BADER... BIG FOOT... BIRY... DUNLAY... LACKLAND AFB... LACOSTE AND LEMING.

MOST DEATHS IN FLASH FLOODING OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES... DIPS... OR LOW WATER CROSSINGS IF WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM... EVEN A SMALL ONE... ON FOOT OR IN A VEHICLE.
