Weather Watch: Tropical Storm Arlene

Hi Y'all,

The first tropical storm of the Atlantic has formed in the Gulf of Mexico and is moving WNW at a very slow rate. The storm is somewhat disorganized at this point, but is building slowly.

For right now, the projected path is to head into Mexico just south of the Texas border. Southern Texas is expected to receive a good amount of rain out of this as projected by the models of the storms path.

Because of the uncertainty of this storm however, no concrete forecasts can be made for San Antonio and points south in Texas yet.

I will monitor the situation and will update as needed.

That is all...

Manny

Hey El,

The NWS/NOAA just put up the alert on TS Arlene. They do not have any definite data as to who is going to get what, if any. It will take a day or two to see what happens.

Personally, I feel that Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and possibly NM and OK are in for it in terms of TS/Hurricanes. Time will tell if I am right.

Checking the NWS/NOAA on the status of Arlene, she is gaining strength, however, she has now taken a WSW turn and is heading deeper into Mexico.

With this turn of events, it looks like South Texas will see less rain, if any, unless the storm takes the traditional u-turn and heads north.

Updates coming as needed.
