I've got an old Herters press that I use. Haven't rolled and up in awhile. Need to get back into it.

I roll my own .308 on the RCBS single stage. Still learning mostly but so far I still have my face.....guess Im doing ok. LOL. I guess the part that stresses me the most is seating the bullet. Ive read WAY to much about it. Do you go by OAL or what?

Need to start rolling 45 too.

BTW if anyone needs a new in box RCBS supreme press or a new RCBS powder dispenser shoot me a message. Take $200 for both.

How much do you save by doing your own or is it you never have to worry about stores having a rush on what you need?

I go off of what the book says the OAL should be for that particular bullet. I will make one to exactly what the book says, grab my rifle and see if it cycles. If it does I make the rest exactly the same. This guy might can help you. He's slow talking and very thorough but knows his chit.

A lot of both. It comes out much cheaper. Like the 8mm I just made, only one place in town has it and they want $40 for 20rds. I probably made 50rds for $18. The other thing is variety. I couldn't find heavy .308's in town. Everyone has 145-155 grain live ammo and my rifle really likes 175g.

Picked me up a RCBS Chargemaster 1500 last night at Cabelas. Seems pretty cool so far.

Yeah I started seating mine at book 2.800 but started reading about seating by jump to lands but figured out really quick that I would never be able to seat mine far enuff out to give a .010 jump to lands. Well unless I wanted to load them singleshot, no thanks! Im loading mine just short of magazine length. Think its like 2.830 +/-...been a few months since I rolled any. I started reading more about loading off the ojive instead of OAL. Amazing the changes in a box of bullets on the comparator set I have!

Loading these .308 HPBT's I've noticed a variation in the tips. Some will be a little high and some low. I have to keep reminding myself that they are all the same length it's just the hollow point that has variances in them. I see what you mean though, if you let yourself you can over think it a lot. lol

I'm building an AR and about to start reloading for .223 and my arm is already hurting just thinking of loading a ton of rounds on my single stage. Guess its time to start thinking upgrade.

Edit: Just saw what a chargemaster is. Very nice!
