Well I found out what the noise was that was coming from the front axle.
this is what I found when I pulled the axle and hub out.

and this is what was left of the bearing

So I desided it was time to replace the hub I got lucky and found to good hubs with almost new bearings out of an XJ we got in at the junkyard. and desided to go ahead and replace the axle U-Joints while I had it apart. I went and got two of these.

I am going to finnish the install of the front axle repair monday or tuesday. will have pics of the lift I have done also.

What are your specs on the lift for the XJ? That is cool that you found most of the components you needed that thing was in bad shape. Is that a twist I see on the splines?

u-joints

Man, I am a huge fan of those Brute Force joints, had axleshafts shear off on my dana44 and the ujoints still be intact, they are tough.
