The fact that there are only 3 aftermarket lockers available for the 14bff helps. The detroit, lockrite, and recently the arb. Just be sure you get one for the FF and not the SF.

Ask for a Detroit Locker...its unmistakably the real thing, if someone gives you something else when you ask for a Detroit Locker, go somewhere else.

a spool replaces the carrier completely and permanently locks the axles together

a detroit usually replaces the carrier but on the 14 bolt it is made like a lock right, it uses cogs that lock together but will unlock to differentiate turns and such

look here: http://www.ouversonengineering.com/inc/pdetail?v=1&pid=100
this is a mini spool that doesn't replace the whole carrier

we put a mini spool in my friends bronco 9" and loves it. so if your wanting it locked all the time i would say for the spool or mini spool and have at it. if you want soemthing that will unlock when turning and when in a major bind then go detroit.

well cause when you turn both tires will turn teh same so one tire will be turning at the rate it should and the other will be "churning" at teh pavement to turn the same amount of revolutions as the other.....

For a DD a Detroit or ARB would be best.
